The Journey and Art Behind My Haircuts
Hairdressing is about much more than just using scissors. Here is a look at the mentors, the techniques, and the passion that shape every look I create.
I feel very fortunate to have worked with the late Irrfan Khan. He was a true artist, and creating looks for him was an honor. I'll always be inspired by his dedication and grace.
A happy Gurupurnima to my own guru, Javed Habib. I learned so much from him, and his mentorship has been a huge part of my journey as a hairstylist and teacher.
A throwback to the good old days. This was taken early in my career. It's amazing to look back and see how far I've come.
The goal should always be clear, even if the picture is a bit blurry. This was from a stage show where I was demonstrating haircutting techniques.
A portrait of me at the salon. My passion is hairdressing, and I've built my career on solid basics and a love for teaching.
A photo of me at the academy. I am proud to be able to pass on my knowledge to the next generation of hairstylists.
A little behind the scenes moment of me blow drying a client's hair at the salon.
This is an article that was written about my journey as a pro stylist, leader, and teacher. I'm grateful for the recognition of my 18 years in this industry.
About Behind The Scenes & Memories
People often ask me how I maintain such sharp lines in my haircuts. The secret isn't a fancy tool, it's the foundation. My training with Javed Habib taught me that sabse important cheez (the most important thing) is your sectioning technique. Whether I am working with a celebrity on set or a client in the salon, I use the same disciplined approach to ensure every line is precise. This isn't just about styling, it is about structure that holds up long after you leave my chair.
My journey started 18 years ago, and my philosophy has remained simple: if your base is weak, your final style will never last. I did not learn this on the internet. I learned it through years of practical, on-the-ground training. Working with legends like the late Irrfan Khan was a masterclass in patience and precision, and studying under my guru, Javed Habib, taught me that hairdressing is a craft that requires constant practice.
I treat every haircut as a technical exercise. When you visit my studio in Andheri or Vile Parle, you aren't just getting a trim. You are getting a consultation based on your hair texture, face shape, and growth patterns.
Why I also teach:
- Real Skill vs. Inspiration: You can find inspiration on YouTube, but you find real skill in the salon. My academy is dedicated to teaching the next generation of stylists how to actually hold the scissors and control the hair.
- Hands-on Basics: We don't do theory overload. If you are a student, we put the tools in your hands from day one because that is the only way to learn.
- Consistency: Whether it is a precision bob or a complex color treatment, the method stays the same. I teach my students to focus on the 'sahi tarika' (right method) every single time.
My goal is to make sure that whether you are sitting in my chair for a haircut or attending a masterclass, you walk away with more confidence in how your hair looks and behaves.
