Real Newborn Photography: My Work and Methodology
I have photographed over 1800 little ones in the last decade. Here is what my work looks like when we put safety, emotion, and real connection above everything else.
As a photographer with over a decade of experience, I've learned that the best photos come from connection, not force. In this video, I share a core part of my teaching philosophy: how to work with children to capture genuine moments, making them feel like the most important person in the room.
This is why I do what I do. This video tells the story of a boy I photographed as a newborn, who came back seven years later to recreate the same photo for his new baby brother. I teach you how to build these lasting relationships and create memories that span generations.
Newborn safety is the most critical lesson I teach; it is non-negotiable. This clip shows the behind-the-scenes reality of a safe photoshoot, with an assistant always right there. I'll train you to prioritize the baby's well-being above everything else.
Capturing a newborn's fleeting smile is a skill that takes patience and understanding their subtle cues. I'll teach you how to anticipate these magical moments and be ready to capture them, turning a simple photo into a cherished memory.
When you learn from me, you're learning more than just camera settings. I'll show you the value of professional skills like soothing a baby, expert swaddling, and artful editing that respects the natural beauty of the child. These are the skills that define a luxury photography experience.
Sibling photos can be challenging, but I'll teach you my method for making it a positive and fun experience. Instead of forcing a pose, I guide the older sibling to interact naturally, resulting in authentic photos filled with love.
I encourage my students to find beauty in every moment, not just the "perfect" ones. This video shows that awake newborn photos can be just as stunning as sleeping ones. My mentoring is about developing your eye to see and capture these unique opportunities.
After a decade of dedication, switching from a CA to a photographer, my work has been recognized with awards. I share my journey and business insights to help you build your own successful and fulfilling photography career.
About Featured
You will notice my work doesn't look like standard, posed studio photos. That is because I do not follow trends. I follow the baby. When you look at these images, you are seeing genuine interactions, not forced smiles. Whether you are a parent looking for a session or a photographer wanting to learn my 'Flow' technique, everything I do revolves around comfort and safety.
Why I switched from CA to Photography
I spent years in finance before realizing that my true passion was capturing the chaos and beauty of new life. I don't believe in over-editing or unnatural posing. My goal is to capture the feelings—the 'Tu hain toh hain isme zindagi' (You are the life in this) moments.
The 'Baby-Led' Philosophy
- Safety First: This is non-negotiable. Whether it is swaddling, posing, or temperature control in my Cuffe Parade studio, the baby's needs dictate the pace. If they are not in the mood, we pause. We follow their cues, not the clock.
- Real Emotions: I teach photographers how to skip the generic, stiff poses. Instead, I focus on capturing the tiny details: the lashes, the little toes, and the fleeting smiles. We create an environment where parents can relax and siblings feel involved rather than sidelined.
My Approach to Mentoring
If you are a photographer looking to learn, I don't just teach you camera settings. I teach you how to handle the unexpected—like pee accidents—and how to build a business that is financially sustainable (a lesson from my CA days) without losing your artistic spark.
My workshops are designed to help you find your own style. We cover:
- Technical Mastery: Manual mode, lighting setups that mimic natural window light, and safe posing workflows.
- Business Logic: How to price your art, structure your packages, and handle client communication to avoid burnout.
- Authenticity: How to stop chasing trends and start creating images that actually feel like the families you are working with.
Everything here is about making your photography business feel as loud, real, and full of life as the babies we capture.
