About Reception & Celebrations
The best reception shots rarely happen on the dance floor itself, but in the seconds before and after the action. Whether it is a quiet moment between you during a speech or the uncontrollable laughter during a wedding game, I look for these pockets of honest reaction. My goal is to capture the party, not just frame it.
Reception photography is about managing pace and light. When the formal ceremonies end, the energy shifts, and my goal is to blend into the background while keeping my camera ready for the moments that matter.
My Approach to Receptions
I use Sony Alpha gear paired with a Godox lighting setup, which allows me to work in low-light indoor venues or outdoor evening settings without needing to stop the party for posed photos. My style for receptions leans into the chaos: the blur of the dance floor, the laughter during toasts, and the candid interactions between your guests.
What I Cover
- The Entrance: I capture the energy of your arrival, whether it involves sparklers, fog, or traditional elements.
- The Rituals: Cake cutting, champagne toasts, and speeches are documented as they happen, focusing on your genuine reactions rather than staged shots.
- The Dance Floor: I do not just shoot the couple. I photograph the interactions with your friends and family, the moves, and the energy of the crowd.
- The Details: Just like the rest of the day, I capture the lighting, the table setups, and the atmosphere you spent months planning.
