Classic Patterns: Mandalas & Jaal

There is something timeless about the symmetry of a mandala and the delicate lace of a jaal pattern. These traditional designs are where I pour my heart into every swirl and dot to make sure your bridal hands tell your unique story.

A classic mandala design taking center stage. This video shows a detailed circular pattern on the back of the hand, surrounded by a net-like pattern and filled-in fingertips for a traditional look.

This video compares two different styles on each hand. One hand features a dense, checkered jaal pattern, while the other showcases a more open Arabic design, demonstrating my versatility.

A full-arm design dominated by a beautiful cross-hatched jaal pattern. The net-work is complemented by a thick floral cuff at the wrist and detailed work on the fingers.

This design shows how beautifully a leafy jaal pattern can cover the back of the hand. The delicate net is framed by a bold floral cuff and intricate designs on the fingers.

About this collection

The jaal, or net pattern, is my absolute favourite because it demands such patience. Unlike quick, freehand strokes, these patterns need a steady hand to keep every diamond and square perfectly aligned. If you choose this style, you are picking a design that looks delicate from a distance but reveals intricate, deliberate detail up close.

When you opt for a Classic Traditional design, you are choosing a style that has stood the test of time. My approach to these mandalas and jaal patterns is rooted in 'sabr' or patience. A dense, mid-forearm design requires 3.5 to 4.5 hours of focus. I never rush this process because the beauty of a traditional net pattern lies in its consistency. If the lines are not spaced perfectly, the whole effect is lost.

I use only 100% natural henna paste for these designs. This is crucial because traditional Indian patterns are often dense, and you want a rich, reddish-brown stain that lasts through your wedding week. I prepare my own henna cones using organic Sojat powder and essential oils, ensuring no chemicals touch your skin.

Whether you are based in Bengaluru, or hosting your function in Channapatna or Ramanagara, I travel to you. We can discuss your preferred density—whether you want the mandala to be the central star or the jaal work to create a full lace-glove effect. If you have a specific wedding date or the groom's initials you want hidden within the net work, let me know. I love integrating these small, personal symbols into the larger design, making your mehendi truly yours.

I don't have a framed certificate on my wall, just pure hunar (skill) and a lot of patience. For me, mehendi is 'Meem se mohabbat', my way of sharing love through intricate mandalas and net patterns. I want your bridal mehendi to feel as meaningful as the day itself.
