This is my go-to style for a classic, raw sketch. The entire piece is done with a single blue ballpoint pen, using line work and shading to create depth and character.

About Classic Pen & Ink Sketches
When I work with a ballpoint pen, there is no undo button. Every line of cross-hatching you see is intentional, built up layer by layer to create depth. It is just me, the paper, and the ink, capturing a moment as it is, without any digital filters to hide behind.
My approach to these sketches is straightforward. I use a standard blue ballpoint pen on acid-free sketchbook paper to create portraits that feel like they belong in a private diary, not a gallery. You will not find any digital smoothing or AI-generated shortcuts here. The process relies entirely on cross-hatching, a technique I use to build shadows and define facial features. Because I work on A5 sheets, the result is intimate and tactile. Each portrait comes on high-quality paper, protected in a moisture-resistant sleeve with rigid backing, so it reaches you in the same condition I drew it. These sketches are about capturing character, not just a likeness. Whether it is a gift or for your own collection, you are getting an original, physical piece of art created by hand in Bengaluru.
