From sunbirds in my Bangalore garden to ducklings in Bandipur, this collection celebrates the colors and small lives that make our forests sing.

A Cattle Egret showing off its beautiful orange breeding plumage. I captured this elegant bird in a field in Bangalore, its bright colors standing out against the green grass.

A Purple-rumped Sunbird perched on a flowering aloe vera plant. The contrast between the bird's colorful plumage and the bright orange flowers makes for a vibrant composition.

A tiny Oriental White-eye, with its characteristic white eye-ring, poses on a branch. This fluffy, cute bird is a common but always delightful sight in the gardens and forests of Bangalore.

The Coppersmith Barbet is named for its metronomic, metallic call. This close-up portrait shows off its "painted" face with patches of red, yellow, and black.

A Chestnut-headed Bee-eater captured in flight. These birds are incredibly agile flyers, and freezing them mid-air showcases their beautiful colors and graceful form.

The Malabar Grey Hornbill, a species endemic to the Western Ghats. I photographed this one in Coorg, its unique grey plumage and large beak standing out against the mossy branch.

A heartwarming series of a Lesser Whistling Duck mother with her numerous tiny ducklings in a moss-covered pond in Bandipur. These images capture the vulnerability and charm of new life in the wild.

About A Symphony of Feathers

I believe in transparency in my photography. For many of these shots, I share both the RAW and edited versions, so you see exactly how I work with light in the wild. Whether it is a bee-eater in mid-flight or a duckling at Bandipur, these prints are processed to maintain natural color integrity, not to create digital art that misrepresents the forest.

While everyone is looking for the big cats, the real story of our forests is often found in the branches and reeds. My work in this cluster focuses on capturing the vibrant life of India's smaller avian species—birds that are often overlooked yet bring so much color to our ecosystem.

Why This Collection Matters

I don't just point and shoot. I spend hours, sometimes days, waiting for the right light or the perfect behavior. You will find portraits of the Coppersmith Barbet, known for its metallic call, and the Malabar Grey Hornbill, which I captured in the mossy reaches of Coorg. I also document life cycles, such as the Lesser Whistling Ducks in the ponds of Bandipur, showing the raw vulnerability of their chicks.

My Technical Approach

My goal is to showcase these birds as they are, using professional Canon gear to pull out the details, whether it is the white eye-ring of an Oriental White-eye or the iridescent plumage of a sunbird. I document these birds across diverse environments, from urban gardens in Bangalore to the dense, wild reserves of Karnataka. If you are looking for authentic bird photography for editorial media, conservation awareness, or home decor, these images are shot with high-resolution clarity in mind.

Licensing and Prints

Every image here is available for licensing. If you are an academic, an NGO, or simply someone who wants to bring a piece of the wild into your home, my prints maintain the honest, unscripted beauty of the forest. I keep the editing minimal to ensure that what you see is what I saw through the lens.

Forests have always been home for me. With my camera and old Thar, I spend my days chasing light to catch stories before the rest of the world wakes up. I am just a guy who loves birds as much as big cats, focusing on the raw, unscripted moments that happen in the wild.
