About this collection
Look, I know the fear—you think you will kill every plant you bring home, especially when it comes to veggies. But here is the trick I tell everyone: start small with hardy herbs like Tulsi, Lemongrass, or Mint before jumping to full veggie beds. They are incredibly forgiving, they smell amazing, and they will give you the confidence boost you need to turn that corner of your balcony into a real, functioning kitchen garden.
Why grow at home?
Growing your own food is not about being a master botanist; it is about reconnection. When you harvest your own turmeric or pluck fresh basil for your pasta, you aren't just eating—you are tasting the reward of your patience. In Bangalore, our climate is actually perfect for this, provided you get the basics right.
My approach to your kitchen garden
We skip the complicated chemical solutions. Instead, I focus on the basics that actually work in our city apartments:
- Soil Health: Everything starts here. I use a nutrient-rich blend of red soil, cocopeat, and vermicompost. If you are starting, pick up a ready-to-use organic potting mix—it saves you the mess of sourcing components separately.
- The 'Thriller-Filler-Spiller' Method: This is how we make balcony gardens look professional. We use a tall 'Thriller' (like a chili plant), a bushy 'Filler' (like basil or coriander), and a 'Spiller' (like sweet potato vine or oregano) in the same planter for maximum yield in minimum space.
- Local Know-How: Whether you are growing gourds, chikus, or leafy greens like lettuce, the timing matters. I can help you understand when to plant and how to rotate crops so you aren't just harvesting once, but all year round.
Real, honest advice
Sometimes plants die. Sometimes pests attack. It happens to me too. My job is to help you troubleshoot those moments without the panic. If you are worried about whether your balcony gets enough light or which pots will survive our monsoon, just ask. We have the seedlings, the organic boosters like Jeevamrut, and the experience to make sure your first harvest is a success. Let’s get your hands dirty.
Make My Garden
I started Make My Garden because I wanted everyone in the city to feel the peace that comes from getting your hands in the soil. It is not just about selling seeds or planters—it is about helping you create a little corner of life that feeds both your kitchen and your soul.
