Our Gentle Process and Newborn Posing Guide
Step into my world where comfort meets creativity. Here is how I set up, safely pose your little one, and capture those sleepy smiles right in the comfort of your home.
From the first touch of love to a memory to cherish forever. This video shows the gentle handling and care I put into every session, ensuring your baby is safe, comfortable, and happy.
The sweet spot for a newborn photoshoot is between 7 and 15 days after birth. This is when babies are still very sleepy and naturally curl into those adorable poses, like this little one in her floral tent.
Why does timing matter so much? Those first few weeks are magical, and booking your session early ensures we can capture those peaceful, sleepy poses that define newborn photography.
Why not shoot before 5 days? Both mom and baby need time to rest and adjust after delivery. Your comfort and recovery are my priority, so we wait until you are both ready.
This graphic is a great reminder of the ideal window for booking your newborn session. Planning ahead helps us create the most beautiful and peaceful portraits of your baby.
The Froggy Pose is a classic for a reason. It beautifully showcases the baby's face, with their chin resting on their hands. This pose is always done safely as a composite of two images to ensure the baby's head is supported at all times.
The Potato Sack pose is an adorable and cozy classic. The baby is swaddled snugly to resemble a little sack, keeping their arms and legs tucked in for a compact and cute look.
About this collection
The secret to those peaceful, curled-up photos isn't just the props; it's the timing. I plan every shoot around your baby’s natural sleep cycle, ensuring we never rush. If your little one needs a feed or a cuddle mid-session, we pause immediately. Your home remains a calm, cozy space throughout, and my portable studio setup is fully sanitized before I even step through your door.
Creating a Calm Space at Home
I bring the studio to you, which means no stressful commutes with a newborn. My portable lighting and backdrop kit turns any corner of your living room into a professional photography space. Because we are in your home, we have the flexibility to take breaks whenever needed—whether for feeding, diaper changes, or simply to soothe your baby back to sleep. My goal is to capture your baby’s first days without any of the rush of a traditional studio setting.
The Art of Safe Posing
You might see images of the 'Froggy' pose or the 'Potato Sack' and worry about safety. Every pose I do is executed with extreme care. For complex positions, I use composite techniques, meaning I take two photos and blend them to ensure the baby's head and neck are always supported by my hands. Safety is non-negotiable; my nine years of experience means I can read your baby’s cues and adjust accordingly.
When Should You Book?
The 'sweet spot' is 7 to 15 days after birth. During this window, newborns are naturally sleepy and tend to maintain that beautiful, curled-up fetal position. If you’ve passed this window, don't worry. I work with babies up to 40 days old as well. While they might be more alert, we can still capture stunning, meaningful portraits that celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime stage.
