About Specialty Installations: Ceilings, Arches & Curved Walls
Installing on a flat wall is standard, but getting wallpaper to adhere perfectly to a ceiling or a curve without peeling or pattern distortion is a different ball game. We use professional-grade starch-based adhesives and the double-cut method to ensure the seams stay invisible and flush, even on overhead or rounded surfaces where gravity works against you.
Why Ceilings and Curves are Different
Ceilings are unforgiving. Gravity wants the paper to peel, and overhead light shows every single imperfection or bubble. We use heavy-duty, commercial-grade adhesives formulated specifically for high-ceiling adhesion to prevent curling over time.
Curved walls and pillars present a different challenge: pattern continuity. The goal is to wrap a design around a corner or a column without the image breaking or looking jagged. We calculate the pattern repeat meticulously before we even start, making sure that when we wrap a pillar, the design meets up exactly. Whether it is an archway that needs accenting or a seamless ceiling mural that doubles as a backlit feature, we bring the right tools and the patience to get it right.
Our Process for Complex Surfaces
- Surface Audit: Before we begin, we check for moisture levels and surface texture. Ceilings and curved walls need a perfectly smooth substrate for the paper to bond.
- Precision Measurement: We don't just measure height and width. We account for the curvature to ensure the material doesn't stretch or bunch up during application.
- Specialist Adhesives: For overhead work, we use stronger, faster-tacking adhesives that hold the weight of the material immediately, preventing gravity from causing gaps.
- Flawless Finish: We trim edges around fixtures and light sources to ensure a seamless transition. If you have an unconventional shape, send us a photo or share your measurements. We will let you know if it is doable and exactly how we will pull it off.
