Authentic Hand-Pleated Ukdiche Modak
Nothing says Ganpati like fresh, steamed modaks. My authentic, hand-pleated modaks are made the traditional way with fresh coconut, jaggery, and a touch of saffron.
A close up of my classic Ukdiche Modaks, served on a traditional banana leaf. Each one is pleated by hand and garnished with precious saffron strands, just how my Aaji used to make them.
Another look at these beauties. The soft, delicate rice flour shell holds a sweet, aromatic filling that makes them the perfect prasad for Ganpati.
This video shows you exactly what's inside. You can see the soft texture of the outer layer and the generous, juicy filling of coconut and jaggery. It’s a taste of home. ❤️

About The Classic Ukdiche Modak
I don't use any molds for these. Every single modak is hand-pleated—the kali—which gives you that perfect, thin outer shell that literally melts in your mouth. They're steamed fresh, packed with a banana leaf for that classic aroma, and are best enjoyed warm within 24 hours.
Making Ukdiche Modak is a labor of love that I take very seriously during the Ganpati season. The process starts with the rice flour ukad (steamed dough), which needs to be kneaded to the exact consistency so it doesn't crack when you pleat it.
Inside, you’ll find a generous filling of fresh grated coconut and organic jaggery, spiced with just the right amount of cardamom and nutmeg. I finish each one with a garnish of saffron strands. Because I focus on the traditional method rather than using molds, every box you receive has that authentic, homemade touch that’s hard to find these days.
Freshness & Delivery
Since these are steamed fresh, they have a short shelf life. I highly recommend consuming them warm within 24 hours of delivery. They come packed in food-grade boxes, lined with a fresh banana leaf to keep that signature aroma locked in until they reach your home.
Why Pre-Order?
Last season, I sold over 500 boxes before the first day of the festival, so please don't wait until the last minute. Since I’m a home baker in Navi Mumbai, I have limited slots each day to ensure every batch gets the attention it deserves. If you’re planning your Ganpati celebrations, reach out a few days early to lock in your order.
