We approach high-density architecture as a dialogue between the building and its urban context, prioritizing natural light, ventilation, and street-level integration.

This project in Bandra reflects the evolving skyline of mid-rise towers in Mumbai. The stone-clad arches pay homage to the city’s architectural heritage, creating a distinctive presence that engages both the street and the skyline with equal sensitivity.

For our upcoming project in Bandra, the goal was to bring a layer of regal charm to a modern high-rise. This building bridges the nostalgic architecture of South Bombay with the energy of Bandra, creating a legacy build for the future.

A facade doesn’t have to shout to make an impact. This render of a high-rise tower shows how a slight shift in form can change how a building meets the light, creating a presence that is both distinct and scalable.

The Corner House, one of our completed projects in North India, is an example of modern design in a tightly knit residential block. The three floors are designed as sharp, shifting boxes, creating shaded and open terraces, with a floating crown of GRC fins on top.

This render introduces The Corner House, a project that presented the unique challenges of designing for a corner plot. The design solution involved creative massing to ensure every space receives natural light and ventilation.

This diagram illustrates our site analysis for a high-density corner plot. Understanding the challenges, such as the loss of two sides to vertical buildup, is the key to unlocking design solutions that make the most of the urban context.

Part two of our design journey for The Corner House. To tackle the blocked sides of this corner plot, we designed a stepped structure that ensures every space gets natural sunlight and ventilation, a smart solution for urban living.

A glimpse into our luxury interiors portfolio in South Mumbai. We are designing multiple spaces within this sea-facing building, including an infinity pool, banquet halls, and a large five-bedroom apartment overlooking the water.

This penthouse's sea-facing living room proves that luxury can be subtle. Its open, clutter-free design lets the stunning panoramas of the Mumbai skyline take center stage, creating a space of quiet contemplation.

The gentle breeze animates the sheer curtains in this sea-facing penthouse, blurring the line between the minimalist interior and the expansive ocean view. This is luxury defined by light, air, and an unobstructed connection to the horizon.

About Urban & High-Rise Architecture

When designing for high-density plots, we prioritize massing strategies that open the building to light and airflow. Instead of fighting the surrounding verticality, we use stepped structures and strategic set-backs to ensure every level functions efficiently, transforming the experience of living or working within the urban environment.

Designing in Mumbai requires a deep understanding of the city's complex urban grain. We approach high-rise architecture not by merely stacking floors, but by creating a cohesive relationship between the structure and its immediate surroundings. Our process begins with rigorous site analysis, mapping wind paths, solar orientation, and the existing streetscape, before any formal design begins.

We utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) to coordinate structural grids and MEP services early in the design phase. This ensures that the final built form remains clean and uncluttered by utility lines. For projects such as our mid-rise work in Bandra, we integrate stone-clad elements that acknowledge the neighborhood's architectural character while ensuring modern structural resilience.

Sustainability in a high-rise context is achieved through intelligent facade engineering. We design shading devices, such as louvers and screens, that minimize thermal gain and reduce reliance on mechanical cooling. Our goal is to balance the demands of functionality and efficiency, resulting in buildings that provide value to their inhabitants while contributing positively to the city skyline.

I founded JMA to bring a sense of quietude to the chaos of modern city living. My work focuses on urban projects that respect their context, blending technical precision with a deep understanding of how people move and breathe in high-density spaces.
