The Handmade Process & My Story
Ever wondered how your candles go from a concept to a finished piece on your shelf? Come behind the scenes of my small home studio to see the real work that goes into every order.
A year ago, I decided to learn candle-making myself instead of outsourcing it. It was the best decision for my business, giving me full control over the quality and reigniting my passion for my craft.
A glimpse into a busy day of candle making. From preparing the colorful jars to pouring the soy wax, every step is done with care. Your support fuels my passion and helps my small business grow.
I'm always trying to improve my products. Here, I'm testing out a new way to add my logo to the jars using stickers. Your feedback helps me make these decisions.
In this video, I share part of my story about why I left my corporate job to follow my passion. It was a big decision, but with my husband's support, we made it work.
A quick, fun video showing off some of my colorful products, including a large rainbow arch tray. Sometimes you just have to have a little fun with it.
A magical transformation. Watch as I add wax flowers to a candle and then melt them with a heat gun to create a beautiful, smooth, colored surface.
From chaos to clarity, here are 10 crucial lessons I've learned on my entrepreneurial journey. Things like "good things take time" and "listen to your customers" are what keep me going.
About this collection
People often ask if I use machines to pour my candles, but the truth is, every single jar is hand-poured right here at my table. I use a non-toxic, water-based eco-resin called Beyond Mix for the vessels, which takes 24 hours to cure properly. It is a slower process, but it is the only way to get those clean, sharp terrazzo and marble patterns you see in my collection.
When I left my corporate job in 2019, I did not have a master plan. I just knew that making art from my heart felt like my soul talking. Since then, the 'Hues of Memories' workbench has become my happy place, even on the days when it feels like total chaos.
Why Handmade Matters
Every candle, tray, and greeting card here is created in small batches. When you buy from me, you are not getting a mass-produced item from a factory line. You are getting something that I personally mixed, poured, and sanded. Yes, sometimes there are tiny bubbles or minor color variations—I call these 'little imperfections'—because they are proof that a human hand made this, not a machine.
The Eco-Resin Journey
I chose to work with Beyond Mix because it is eco-friendly and solvent-free. It allows for incredible durability and those distinct marble and terrazzo finishes I love. But working with it is a technical challenge. The pouring temperature, the curing time, and the sealing process all have to be exact. If I rush it, the quality suffers. That is why I often share the 'Part 1, Part 2' behind-the-scenes clips on social media—I want you to see that it is not just magic, it is consistent, hard work.
Building Together
This business is my story, but it is also a community effort. Your feedback on sticker colors, your questions about fragrance blends, and even your support when a courier goes wrong keeps me going. Whether you are looking for a scented soy candle or a custom gift hamper, know that your order is being handled with genuine care. Thanks for being part of this journey.
Hues of Memories
Hi, I am Swati. I traded a corporate desk for a messy, colorful workbench, and I have not looked back since. Every order you see here represents a piece of my journey from simple greeting cards to building this handmade studio from scratch.
