Interior Design Tips and Home Planning Principles

Good design is about how a space works, not just how it looks. From our 'Triangle Rule' for better flow to simple styling tricks, here is how we approach home planning to make your space both functional and personal.

We often use the 'Triangle Rule' in our designs to create balance and visual interest. This principle can be applied to furniture layout, shelf styling, and even color distribution to create a harmonious space.

This 'Lifestyle Triangle' illustrates how we plan open-concept spaces. By creating a functional flow between the kitchen, dining, and living areas, we ensure the layout supports your daily activities seamlessly.

Here is how we apply the triangle principle to mantel styling. We use a large anchor piece as the focal point, then balance it with smaller filler items and objects of varying height to create a visually pleasing arrangement.

For tabletop styling, we create a focal point using a triangular composition. An anchor piece, like artwork, is balanced by items of different heights on either side, such as a tall vase and a lamp.

When styling shelves, we create visual triangles using color. Repeating a color, like the green from the plants, in a triangular pattern across different shelves guides the eye and creates a cohesive look.

A simple tip for arranging pillows on a sofa is to use a mix of three types: one solid color, one with a geometric print, and one with a pattern. This creates a layered and professionally styled look.

We are here to debunk common interior design myths. Good design is not just for the rich and it's much more than just decorating; it involves technical planning to make spaces of any size functional and beautiful.

About this collection

Before you invest in furniture, evaluate your space using the 'Triangle Rule'—the invisible path between your kitchen, dining, and living zones. If that flow is obstructed, even the most premium interiors will feel frustrating to navigate daily. We prioritize this functional mapping during our initial site assessments because we know a home's comfort depends on movement as much as aesthetics.

Planning for Daily Function

Design is often misunderstood as pure decoration, but our experience as an engineering-led team tells us otherwise. A beautiful room that creates a bottleneck in your daily routine is a failed design. When we plan layouts—whether for a compact apartment or a sprawling office—we focus on the logical sequence of your day. Where will you keep the coffee maker? Is the TV unit blocking a pathway? We address these constraints early on, often using 3D renders so you can visualize the flow before a single board is cut.

Lighting as a Foundation

Most homes suffer from a reliance on harsh, singular overhead lighting. To truly change the mood of a room, you need layers. We often suggest installing dimmable options, wall-washers, or profile lights beneath cabinets. This doesn't just look better; it defines zones within an open-concept space, separating your work area from your relaxation area without needing physical walls.

Debunking Design Myths

  • Myth: Design is only for large budgets. Fact: Good space planning is actually a cost-saver. It prevents poor choices and wasted materials.
  • Myth: Trends matter most. Fact: Your daily habits matter most. If you prefer low-maintenance living, we steer you toward durable laminates and scratch-resistant surfaces rather than high-maintenance finishes.

The Role of Quality Materials

We don't just pick materials for how they look; we pick them for how they hold up to the Bengaluru climate. We use IS 710 BWP Marine Grade plywood for kitchens because we know moisture is the enemy. When our carpenters tell you the 'kaam achha hai' (the work is good), it is because we have already vetted the hardware and materials for long-term reliability. Good design is useless if it starts falling apart in a year.
