About The Foundation: Techniques & Prep
Most people focus on the final curls, but the secret to a look that doesn't fall flat is in the prep. If you do not get the sectioning and product distribution right at the start, no amount of hairspray is going to fix a messy finish. In class, I make you do this over and over until your hands remember the tension—it is the one skill that separates the 'parlour wali' style from a pro finish.
A lot of students come to me thinking the big styles are the most important part, but honestly, it is all in the foundation. If your base is not solid, your Hollywood waves are just going to look like sad, frizzy strands by the time the event starts.
What we cover in the prep module:
- Product Knowledge: Knowing exactly which mousse, heat protectant, and finishing spray to use (and how much is too much).
- Sectioning: It sounds basic, but I see so many pros getting this wrong. We practice clean, logical sectioning so you are not fighting with your own hair while styling.
- Blow-drying for Volume: How to build a root lift that actually holds.
- Texture & Grip: Getting the hair ready so that when you curl or braid, the hair stays in place without ten kilos of pins.
It is 7 days of hands-on learning here in Mumbai. We spend the first part of the masterclass just getting these basics right, because once you have the foundation, the rest of the styling becomes 10x easier. No boring theory, just real-world practice on mannequin heads until you are confident.
