My Approach to Mature Skin Makeup

Working with mature skin is one of my absolute favorite parts of being an artist. It is not about covering up; it is about highlighting the grace and beauty you already have. My goal is to make you look like yourself, just with a polished, glowing boost.

Why Prep is Everything

On mature skin, the canvas matters more than the makeup itself. I invest time in extensive CTM (Cleansing, Toning, Moisturizing) using high-quality emollients to plump the skin. This extra step is non-negotiable—it hydrates deeper layers of the epidermis, which helps the makeup sit smoothly on the surface instead of 'cracking' after a few hours.

Techniques for Longevity

• Color Correction: I use peach and orange correctors to neutralize under-eye circles and pigmentation, which means I can use less foundation overall.
• Lightweight Application: I prefer sheer-to-medium coverage. A heavy, cakey base is the enemy of fine lines. My technique involves building very light layers until we reach the desired finish.
• Eye Definition: For hooded lids, I focus on lifting the eye with specific shadow placement rather than heavy liner that can drag the eye down.
• Lip Shaping: As we age, lips can thin. I use liners to subtly reshape and satin-finish lipsticks that won't bleed into fine lines.

A Note on Realism

I am always direct with my clients: makeup cannot erase wrinkles, pores, or fine lines. That is simply not what it is meant to do. However, the right techniques can soften them significantly and draw attention to your strongest feature—whether that is your eyes, your smile, or your cheekbones.
