About Seasonal Gardening Guides

Gardening in India is about working with the weather, not against it. If you try to force seeds that do not belong in the current climate, you are only setting yourself up for disappointment. My seasonal guides help you pick the right variety for the month—whether that is leafy greens in the winter or hardy varieties for the heat—so your efforts actually lead to a harvest.

Timing is everything

Nature has a rhythm, and your garden will thrive when you sync up with it. Many beginners get frustrated because they plant vegetables at the wrong time. For example, trying to grow delicate lettuce in the peak of a scorching Indian summer is a losing battle, but those same seeds will explode with growth in the winter chill.

What to plant and when

  • Winter (Nov–Feb): This is the magic time for Indian home gardens. The cool air is perfect for spinach (palak), carrots, peas, and cauliflower. It is the easiest season to start if you are a beginner.
  • Summer (Mar–June): Focus on heat-loving crops like tomatoes, okra (bhindi), and different varieties of gourds. These plants need consistent watering as the temperature climbs.
  • Monsoon (July–Sept): The humidity can be tricky, but it is great for quick-growing greens and herbs. Focus on soil drainage so your roots do not rot.

Getting the start you need

I want to make this as simple as possible. My seasonal seed combos are put together to match exactly what will grow best in your current month. You do not have to study agricultural calendars; I have already done the sorting for you. You get high-yield, non-GMO varieties that are ready to sow. Just add 'thoda sa pyaar' (a little bit of love) and keep an eye on your water schedule, and you will see those sprouts in no time. If you are ever unsure about your specific city climate, just reach out. Let’s make your home a little greener, one season at a time.
