Nurturing Emotional Intelligence in Early Childhood

I believe emotional well-being is the bedrock of all learning. Through mindful routines and play, we help children build empathy, resilience, and the confidence to express themselves.

A child practicing mindfulness is a powerful sight. We integrate simple practices like deep breathing into our daily routines, helping children develop self-awareness and a sense of inner calm from a very early age.

Movement can be mindful too. We use playful 'animal walks' like the kangaroo hop and tortoise walk to teach children about balancing energy with calmness, helping them develop body awareness and self-regulation skills.

Music is a wonderful tool for mindfulness. In this activity, children explore different sounds, learning to listen closely and focus their attention. It’s a calming sensory experience that we call 'music to our ears'.

From hiding behind her mom to sharing a teacup with a friend. This is what emotional growth looks like. We guide children to develop empathy and social skills through play, helping them build meaningful connections.

We help children handle everyday struggles with empathy and calmness. Our 'calm down' routines and gratitude circles are part of the spiritual quotient in our curriculum, teaching them to pause, reflect, and connect with themselves.

The 'Daan Utsav' or festival of giving is a perfect opportunity to teach empathy in action. Our children and their families come together to donate items, learning the joy and importance of making a difference in the community.

About Nurturing the Heart: Building Emotional Intelligence

Most parents worry about academics, but I focus on what happens before the learning starts: emotional regulation. Whether we are using 'animal walks' to channel high energy or gratitude circles to shift a mood, we teach kids to identify their feelings rather than acting them out. I have seen children go from separation anxiety at the gate to independently managing their feelings in class, and I can teach you the same routines to use at home.
