Here I am, standing on the landing in front of the completed large-scale abstract mural. It's moments like these, seeing the final vision come to life, that I live for.
I created this stone texture to run across the TV unit and onto the adjacent pillar in a master bedroom. This technique creates a cohesive, aesthetic look that unifies the space.
The same stone texture was used for the headboard wall in the master bedroom. The raw, natural feel of the wall is a beautiful contrast to the soft furnishings, and it looks amazing with colored mood lighting.
This African-themed geometric pattern was a great challenge. The key was getting the white lines perfectly crisp after removing the tape. It was a new experience and a great learning process.
Achieving an alcohol ink effect with normal paints is tough, but I was thrilled with this result. The flowing, translucent layers of blue and gold create a beautiful, ethereal abstract mural.

When I create these rock or stone textures, I am not just painting. I am building layers directly onto your wall using specialized mixtures that give the design real physical depth. You can actually run your hand over the ridges and valleys, which creates a completely different feeling compared to flat wallpaper. If you are choosing a wall for this type of art, prioritize one with decent natural or accent lighting, because it is the way light plays against those uneven surfaces that creates the shadows and the dramatic look you see here.
How We Build Modern Textures
Modern design is often about contrast. My work in this category focuses on moving away from flat surfaces. Whether it is a heavy, sculpted rock texture or a light, minimalist abstract pattern, the goal is to give your wall a personality of its own.
The Sculpted Relief Process For our signature rock textures, we use a custom mixture of putty and plaster. We apply this by hand, sculpting it into the wall to mimic natural stone formations. This is a messy process that requires patience, as we have to allow for drying and sanding cycles to ensure the texture holds up over time. Because these designs have physical projections of up to 1.5 inches, they interact with the light in your room, meaning the wall looks slightly different in the morning than it does in the evening.
Geometric and Abstract Designs If you prefer something cleaner, we also specialize in geometric patterns and abstract art. Achieving crisp lines on a large scale is the biggest challenge here. We use precision taping and high-grade acrylics to ensure the boundaries between your colors or shapes are sharp. For those seeking something more ethereal, we also do alcohol ink-style effects, which require a careful hand to build up those translucent, flowing layers that are almost impossible to replicate with standard spray paint.
Planning Your Mural Before we start, we will look at your existing room decor. If you have a busy room with a lot of furniture, we might suggest a minimalist abstract design to keep the space feeling open. If you have a large, empty feature wall, that is where the sculpted relief art really shines. We work closely with you to decide not just the design, but the placement, ensuring the mural feels like an intentional part of your home architecture rather than an afterthought.
