The Vibe Curator: My approach to wedding music and energy

Music is more than a playlist, it's about the feeling in the room. Whether it's a quiet moment by the lake in Udaipur or a full-on sangeet in Delhi, I focus on reading the crowd to make the night special.

In the zone behind the decks, with my hand up, feeling the energy of the crowd. This is my happy place, where I connect with the music and the people.

A stylish pose in the grand corridor of a Udaipur hotel. My personal style reflects the chic, modern, and sophisticated vibe I bring to every wedding.

A casual moment at a beautiful property in Udaipur. Even during downtime, I'm soaking in the atmosphere of the destination to inspire my music sets.

Relaxing in a quiet courtyard in Jaipur before a big event. Taking a moment to chill and get centered is key to delivering a high-energy performance.

Dressed in a sharp black suit in a classic checkered hallway in Jaipur. This look is perfect for an elegant evening reception or cocktail party.

Posing against a creative wall of vintage luggage. As a destination wedding DJ, I'm always on the move, collecting memories and experiences along the way.

About this collection

I don't just drop tracks. I read the room's energy, watching who is dancing, who needs a tempo shift, and how the crowd responds to a folk transition. It's about balancing high-energy Bollywood bangers with those specific tracks that get everyone from your cousins to your grandparents on the dance floor.

For me, the goal is always the same: Raat bhi lit, vibe bhi fit. Music is about those goosebumps, the ones you get when a classic Punjabi folk track hits just right. To achieve that, I bring my own gear, specifically the Pioneer CDJ 2000NXS2 and a MacBook Pro, because I need studio-quality output at every venue, from the backyards of Delhi to the palaces of Udaipur and Jaipur.

My process starts long before the guests arrive. We do two pre-event calls to finalize your 'Do Play' and 'Do Not Play' lists. This is when we decide the narrative of your wedding. Do you want Afro House for a sun-drenched Mehendi? Are we going for high-octane Bollywood during the Sangeet? Or perhaps a live dhol and sax collaboration to turn your reception into a full concert?

I handle the logistics, coordinating with your local sound vendor to ensure the PA system matches my technical rider. My job is to take the stress off you so that when the music starts, you are fully in the moment. Whether I am playing solo or with my percussionist and saxophonist brothers, the focus is on a seamless flow. I don't follow a pre-set list because no two crowds are the same. I watch you, your guests, and the mood, and I mix live to keep the party moving until the last beat.

I'm Ajay. For me, DJing isn't a gig, it's my heartbeat. I live for that moment when the beat drops, the percussionist hits the rhythm, and the whole dance floor just clicks.
