Custom Paver Patios and Outdoor Living Spaces
We design patios that become the heart of your backyard. Whether you need a simple walkway or a complete outdoor room, we build spaces that fit your lifestyle and withstand our local weather.
This paver patio features a circular inlay and a curved seating wall. It's a good way to create a distinct area for gathering, especially around a flagpole or other central feature.
This project involved transforming an unused area next to a driveway. I installed this patio using large, light-colored pavers to create a clean, spacious seating area right off the house.
Even a small space can be turned into a useful patio. Here, I laid a simple circular patio with a dark paver border, creating a perfect spot for a small table and chairs.
Here is the finished patio next to the brick building. It replaced an old, uneven surface and provides a stable and attractive outdoor space.
This is another view of a patio I installed. The large, square pavers give it a modern feel that contrasts nicely with the classic brick wall.
A wider view shows how the new paver patio fits in with the existing driveway and lawn, creating a much more defined and usable space.
About Patios & Living Areas
When we build a patio, the most critical step is what you don't see. We excavate 6 inches of soil and install a 4-inch compacted aggregate base before a single stone is laid. This foundation prevents shifting, sinking, and cracking, which is essential for surviving the freeze-and-thaw cycles we see here in Central Ohio.
Our Approach to Patio Construction
A patio should be more than just a place to set furniture. We focus on creating outdoor spaces that look like they belong in your yard. We start by discussing how you plan to use the area, whether for quiet morning coffee or large family gatherings.
Materials and Design
We offer a variety of paving options, including classic rectangular pavers, hexagonal patterns, and natural sandstone. For a clean, finished look, we often include a contrasting soldier-course border around the perimeter. This creates a frame that helps the patio stand out from the lawn.
The Finishing Touches
Construction isn't done until the details are addressed. We use polymeric sand in the joints, which hardens to keep weeds and ants from moving in. We also handle the transition between the hardscape and your grass, often adding new mulch beds or plantings to tie the new patio into your existing landscape. This ensures your backyard looks like a single, cohesive project rather than a stone slab dropped in the middle of the grass.
Why Local Experience Matters
Having worked in the Columbus Metropolitan Area since 1984, we understand local soil conditions and drainage needs. Poor drainage leads to water pooling near your home foundation, so we always ensure the grade slopes properly away from your building. We build for longevity, aiming to provide a space that remains stable and attractive for years to come.
