Natural Ponds and Custom Waterfalls
We build ponds that look like they belong in your yard, using real river boulders and native plantings to create a balanced water feature.

About Natural Ponds & Waterfalls
When we build a pond, we prioritize the construction of the 'shelf' around the perimeter. We excavate these levels so you can place aquatic plants like water lilies at the proper depth, which keeps the water healthy, supports the ecosystem, and prevents the pond from looking like a plastic liner dropped in a hole.
How We Build Your Water Feature
We start by treating your pond as part of the landscape rather than a separate project. Our water features rely on a few key structural choices to keep them looking natural and functioning well year-round in the Ohio climate.
- The Structure: We use heavy-duty EPDM liners covered by 6 to 18-inch river boulders. These rocks hide the liner entirely so all you see is stone and water. We also build 2-foot rock spillways using slate or stone slabs to get that steady, relaxing waterfall sound.
- The Ecosystem: A clear pond needs balance. By installing sub-surface shelves, we create the right conditions for water lilies and marginal reeds to thrive. We include a submersible recirculation pump and bio-filtration media to keep the water moving and clean.
- Ohio Weather: We know local soil and temperature swings. Our excavations are designed with proper sub-base prep to ensure the ground doesn't shift or sink as the seasons change. We finish every project by edging with river gravel and mulch so the transition from stone to grass looks clean and intentional.
Maintenance
Yes, there is some upkeep involved. You will need to clean the pump filter and occasionally trim back overgrown aquatic plants. However, because we use high-quality liners and natural filtration, you will not be fighting algae or structural leaks every season. We are happy to show you exactly how to manage your pond during our initial site visit.
