This is the first impression of my work, showcasing the core principles that guide my practice. It’s a curated look into how I design landscapes as living companions to architecture, creating resilient, biodiverse habitats that are deeply connected to their environment. Each project is a testament to a philosophy of sustainability, material honesty, and social responsibility.
The 'Breathe' Residence: An Earth-Built Habitat
This award-winning project is a case study in energy-efficient, eco-sensitive design. I used locally made Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB) and rammed earth walls to create a structure that is contextually relevant, with perforated 'Jaali' walls that invite birds to nest, making the building itself a part of the habitat.
The 'Aamra' Farmhouse: Life Amidst the Mangoes
Designed within a mango orchard, 'Aamra' is a farmhouse rooted in simplicity and its connection to the land. The design revolves around the 'Jagli katte' or verandah concept, creating numerous semi-open spaces that blur the boundary between the house and the productive landscape, encouraging a slower pace of life.
Living Landscapes: Crafting Biodiverse Ecosystems
I design living habitats, not merely decorative gardens. This collection showcases landscapes rich in biodiversity, using native plant species to create thriving ecosystems for birds, butterflies, and other local wildlife, with a focus on softscapes over hard construction.
The Design Process: From Concept to Form
My work is built on a foundation of research, conceptual thinking, and a deep understanding of each site's unique ecology. This collection offers a look into my design process, from initial diagrams and massing studies to detailed sustainability plans that form the intellectual backbone of every project.
Urban Oases: Integrating Nature into City Life
My principles of creating living landscapes are not limited to large plots. This collection shows how I approach smaller urban projects, such as home office extensions and terrace gardens, transforming them into green oases that enhance daily life and blur the line between indoors and outdoors.
Sustainable Innovation: Materials with a Purpose
I believe in finding potential where others see waste. This project focuses on using Lantana camara, an invasive weed in the Nilgiris, to design and prototype commercially viable furniture, a process that helps restore forest biodiversity and empowers local communities with new skills.
