Patient-Centric Healthcare Interiors
We design healthcare spaces that balance clinical efficiency with a calming, human-centric experience for patients and staff.
The main reception and waiting area at Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital in Bangalore. The curved reception desk and flowing ceiling lights guide patient movement, while the wood and light color palette creates a welcoming atmosphere.
A long, curved seating bench in the patient waiting corridor of the eye hospital. This design element maximizes seating while maintaining a clear, unobstructed path, crucial for patient flow in a healthcare setting.
The optical retail and consultation area within the eye clinic. We designed clean, well-lit display shelves and comfortable seating areas to ensure a functional and pleasant experience for patients selecting eyewear.
The post-operative recovery ward at Memorial Hospital and Research Centre in Kerala. The space is designed for cleanliness and function, with ample room between beds and a sterile, calming blue and white color scheme.
A dental treatment room at Memorial Hospital. The layout is optimized for procedural efficiency, with clean lines, ample storage in white cabinetry, and hygienic, easy-to-maintain surfaces.
About this collection
In a clinical setting, every square foot dictates efficiency. We prioritize flow-planning to ensure patient movement remains intuitive while back-end service zones stay strictly separated to maintain hygiene and privacy.
Architecture in healthcare is distinct because it must facilitate recovery while managing high-intensity operational requirements. We approach every hospital or clinic project by evaluating the intersection of patient psychology and operational functionality.
For an eye hospital or research centre, our design process begins with a study of the expected patient traffic. We integrate distinct zones—reception, diagnostic, surgical, and recovery—to ensure that staff movement is seamless and that sterile areas are protected from high-traffic zones.
Materials are selected based on longevity and maintenance. We specify homogeneous vinyl for flooring in sterile environments to prevent bacterial buildup and utilize Corian for reception desks because it allows for seamless, non-porous surfaces that are easy to sanitize. Our focus on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) integration means that life-safety systems like fire sprinklers and medical gas lines are concealed within the ceiling design, maintaining a clean visual aesthetic without compromising safety standards.
Lighting is another pillar of our approach. In waiting areas, we favor warm, indirect profiles to reduce patient anxiety, while in clinical bays, we calculate specific lux levels to ensure doctors have optimal visibility for examinations. Our goal is to remove the clinical 'coldness' often found in medical facilities by using a balanced palette of wood and soft, neutral colors that create a sense of trust and care.
