Beginner Modern Calligraphy Workshops
Learning calligraphy isn't about finding perfect form right away; it’s about embracing the shaky, uncertain starts. Join me for an interactive, live workshop where we move past the fear of the blank page together.
Here is a quick look at what my Modern Calligraphy workshop offers. The video shows the curated kit, including the workbook and tools, and examples of the beautiful, expressive lettering you will learn to create. It's about finding your own style, one stroke at a time.
A behind-the-scenes look at me preparing and packing the kits for my May Modern Calligraphy workshop. Each box is assembled by hand and includes the workbook, pen, ink, and practice sheets, ready to be shipped to students around the world.
My Sunday ritual often involves a quiet session of calligraphy practice. This video shows my process, from preparing the ink to the meditative flow of writing. It's this same calm, focused energy that I bring to my beginner workshops.
From abstract strokes to forming elegant letters, this video shows the progression you can expect in my beginner's workshop. We start with the basics of handling the pen and ink, building your skills to write beautiful words and phrases.
Calligraphy is a way for me to write my own story. Here, I am using an oblique pen and green ink to practice my script on high-quality paper. This is the kind of personal, expressive art you can create after learning the fundamentals.
A close-up shot of me at my desk, dipping my calligraphy pen into a pot of golden ink. This image captures the focus and intention behind the art form, a moment of quiet before the writing begins. It's a practice of believing in your own potential.
A short, satisfying video of me writing 'Be Brave' in a flowing golden script. Calligraphy can be a powerful tool for affirmation, and learning this skill allows you to bring beautiful, motivating words to life.
The word 'Healing' written in a delicate, continuous script. For me, the act of calligraphy is a form of therapy. It's a slow, intentional process that helps quiet the mind and focus on the present moment.
A simple reminder to 'breathe deeply', written in a rich red ink as sunlight streams across the page. This video captures the calming nature of calligraphy, where each stroke is a mindful action.
About Beginner Modern Calligraphy Workshops
I don't just dump a list of supplies on you. When you sign up, I ship a premium toolkit directly to your door, complete with the oblique pen holder, nibs, and the high-GSM workbook we’ll be using live. Everything you need is ready, so you can stop scrolling for supplies and actually start writing.
Why I teach this way
Art is messy. When I started, I felt lost, and that’s why my beginner workshops are built on live interaction rather than pre-recorded videos. I want us to share the doubts and the small wins together. We’ll spend six hours over a weekend breaking down the fundamentals—from how you hold your pen to connecting letters—so you can develop a rhythm that feels like you, not a copy of someone else’s script.
What we cover
This is a deep dive into modern calligraphy, not just an aesthetic hobby.
- The Basics: We start with the anatomy of the pen and the pressure required for those beautiful, thick-and-thin strokes.
- The Alphabet: We’ll drill the strokes, then move to lowercase and uppercase letters.
- Connecting: Once you have the letters, we’ll work on joining them fluidly into words and phrases.
Why no recordings?
I get asked for recordings often, but I don't provide them. To really learn this, you have to show up. My workshops are designed for active participation. I review your work in real-time on Zoom, fixing your grip or stroke angle as we go. It’s the only way to ensure you don’t build bad habits that are hard to break later. If you’re ready to slow down, de-stress, and learn a skill that’s honestly quite grounding, I’d love to have you in the next batch.

Art is messy, and honestly, that’s where the magic is. I’m an artist who ditched the 9-5 to chase this feeling, and I teach because I want you to experience that same relief of letting your hand move without judgment. We’ll skip the stiff rules and focus on finding your own rhythm.
