From Artist to Artpreneur: Building Your Creative Business
Turning art into a full-time career requires more than just talent. Here is how I bridge the gap between creative passion and sustainable business growth.
This was me 11 years ago at my very first exhibition stall. I started by selling small paintings at flea markets. This is where my business began, and I teach how these small steps are crucial for building a foundation.
After 7 years, I was back at a flea market, this time in a new city. Moving to Mumbai meant revisiting my roots and hustling like I was just starting. I teach that expanding your business sometimes means going back to basics.
This video documents my first 10 months after moving to Mumbai. It shows the reality of starting over: a workshop with only five attendees, the feeling of being lonely, and the persistence it takes to finally land big clients in a new market.
A quick look at how I juggle my two businesses: Art Beat, where I create art, and Paint Bar, where I help others create art. I'll help you figure out how to manage multiple creative ventures without burning out.
A recap of my year. It was full of firsts, growth, and getting engaged. I believe in celebrating personal and professional wins, and I teach how to build a business that supports the life you want to live.
A summary of my month, juggling wall murals in Bangalore with life in Mumbai. Being an artpreneur often means being on the move. I share how I manage my time and projects across different cities.
As an artist, travel is a huge source of inspiration. This video shows the art and architecture I discovered in Bhutan. I encourage artists to find inspiration outside their studio to keep their work fresh.
About this collection
You don't need a business degree to make your art profitable, but you do need to understand the hustle. I spent years figuring out how to move from selling small paintings at flea market stalls to hosting corporate workshops for hundreds of people. Whether you are struggling with pricing your work, figuring out how to pitch to corporate clients, or simply deciding which income stream to focus on first, we can strip away the guesswork and focus on the practical steps that actually move the needle for your practice.
The journey from a hobbyist to a professional artpreneur is messy. It involves balancing the creative highs of painting murals with the logistical lows of site management and client negotiations.
My approach to mentorship is grounded in my 11 years of experience across Bangalore and Mumbai, where I learned that 'jugaad'—or clever, resourceful problem solving—is often just as important as artistic skill.
What we can work on:
- Portfolio & Pricing Strategy: Many artists underprice themselves. We will audit your work, look at the market, and build a rate card that makes sense for you and your clients.
- Workshop Operations: From sourcing materials on a budget to managing logistics for large groups, I will share the exact checklists I use to run Paint Bar events.
- Client Acquisition: Whether you want to land corporate mural projects or host private events, we will work on your pitch decks, email templates, and networking strategy.
- Scaling Up: If you are ready to move from beginner batches to high-volume events or new cities, we will talk about the operational shifts required to manage that growth without burning out.
There is no overnight magic here. I am here to share my playbook—mistakes included—so you can build a sustainable creative business that supports the life you want to live.
