About World-Class Hospitality Design
When I design a resort, I start by mapping the path of the sun and the flow of the wind. For The Fern Sattva project, this meant positioning suites to catch the breeze across the central water body, which naturally cools the area without relying solely on air conditioning. My goal is to make the architecture disappear, allowing the landscape to take the lead while maintaining the comfort and luxury your guests expect.
Sustainability is a technical requirement for me, not a trend. In my hospitality projects, I focus on the liberation of space, where the boundaries between the interior and the exterior are removed. This does not mean leaving the structure exposed; it means engineering the building to extend into the surroundings. For instance, in my work on the Westin Nashik, the terraced design and vertical gardens ensure that the structure feels like an extension of the valley itself.
Each project involves a rigorous analysis of site context. We look at topography, wind direction, and existing vegetation before drawing a single line. For a resort to succeed, it must be flexible. This is why I advocate for modular planning in the early stages, ensuring the hotel can adapt to changing guest needs without needing massive renovations later.
Whether we are working on a high-end urban hotel or an eco-retreat in Kutch, my process remains the same: I focus on the guest's sensory experience. How does the light hit the room at 4 PM? Is there enough natural cross-ventilation? Does the arrival experience feel grand yet welcoming? These are the details that define hospitality architecture. I do not just build rooms; I build systems that support an immersive, lasting stay.
