Chemical Peels & Skin Resurfacing Treatments
Chemical peels are not a generic solution. I customize the type and depth of the peel based on your specific concern, whether it is stubborn pigmentation, acne marks, or dullness, to safely revitalize your complexion.
Choosing the right chemical peel is crucial for achieving desired results on Indian skin. In this video, I explain the differences between various peels, such as TCA for deep pigmentation and acne marks, and Yellow Peel for skin glow, to help you understand which treatment is best suited for your specific concern.
About Chemical Peels & Skin Resurfacing
Chemical peels are not a one-size-fits-all procedure. For instance, while I often recommend TCA peels for stubborn acne marks and deep pigmentation, they come with a distinct 8-to-10-day recovery phase. Understanding this recovery process is essential because, unlike mild superficial facials, true skin resurfacing requires patience for the old skin to shed before you see the rejuvenated, even-toned results beneath.
Why Clinical Resurfacing Matters
My approach to chemical peels is rooted in clinical diagnosis. Many patients request peels expecting an instant glow, but my goal is to correct underlying issues like uneven texture, post-acne blemishes, or dark circles. I avoid mild glycolic peels for significant concerns, as they rarely produce the transformative results required for Indian skin. Instead, I utilize TCA and Yellow peels, which are far more effective at targeting the root cause of your skin's unevenness.
How I Choose Your Peel
- Active Acne & Red Marks: I typically utilize salicylic or mandelic acid to manage inflammation and clear bacteria.
- Deep Pigmentation: TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) is my standard recommendation. It acts deeper than other acids to break down stubborn melanin deposits, though it necessitates a recovery period where the skin will look brown and patchy before it reveals a clearer surface.
- Dullness & Dark Circles: Ferulic or specific mild peels are chosen for the sensitive eye area or for a general brightening effect. Yellow peels can be an alternative, working like a snake's shedding process to reveal brighter skin in 5 to 7 days, though they may not treat red or black acne marks.
What to Expect
Safety is the priority. Because peels involve controlled chemical injury to the skin, I assess your skin history, current barrier health, and sun exposure levels before deciding on any protocol. If your skin barrier is compromised, I will often prioritize repair before beginning any resurfacing treatment. We will discuss the specific downtime for your chosen peel during your consultation, ensuring you are prepared for the shedding process and know exactly how to care for your skin as it heals.
