Open your heart and calm your mind with the meditative power of kirtan. Join us in Bangalore for soul-stirring devotional chants that help us connect, go within, and find true inner peace.
Nayaswami Haridas leads a devotional chant to Jesus Christ during a Christmas celebration. Chanting is a joyful and powerful practice that helps us to feel the universal consciousness that unites all true paths.
A blissful moment of kirtan led by Nayaswami Haridas. The simple, repetitive melodies of the chants help to calm the restless mind and allow the heart's natural devotion to flow freely.
"Thy name I will sing, Thy name I will drink." Nayaswami Haridas sings a chant of deep devotion, his voice filled with love for God. This practice of chanting is what Paramhansa Yogananda called "half the battle" on the spiritual path.
A beautiful chant asking the Beloved Lord to reveal Himself. The harmonium provides a soulful accompaniment, creating a meditative atmosphere that draws the devotee's attention inward toward the Divine presence.
A Hindi chant, "Dheere Dheere Aao Na," sung with deep feeling by Nayaswami Haridas. The music and devotion transcend language, speaking directly to the heart and calling upon the presence of the Divine.
The sacred mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" chanted during a satsang. This ancient chant helps us to attune to the consciousness of divine transformation and the eternal, unchanging reality within.
"Paramhansa Yogananda, Jai Guru Jai." We chant the name of our guru to attune ourselves to his consciousness and draw his blessings. This practice strengthens the bond between disciple and guru.
About this collection
Our kirtans are not performances; they are group meditations in sound. We use simple, repetitive chants—often accompanied by the harmonium—to gradually quiet the restless mind and allow your natural devotion to surface. Whether you are familiar with the chants or hearing them for the first time, you are welcome to sit, listen, or join in the singing.
At Ananda Sangha, we believe chanting is half the battle on the spiritual path. When the mind is too restless to sit in silence, music acts as a bridge. By singing the names of the Divine, we release tension and focus our energy inward. Our sessions follow the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda, whose chants form the backbone of our practice.
Why Join Us?
The beauty of kirtan is its accessibility. You do not need to be a musician or have a 'good' voice to participate. The goal is attunement—creating a shared vibration that lifts the spirit. We gather at our centers in Halasuru and Whitefield, and sometimes under the open sky at the Ananda Bangalore Retreat on Kanakapura Road, to sing together.
Each session includes:
- Guided Chanting: We learn the melody and meaning together, often focusing on the Sanskrit or English prayers.
- Harmonium Accompaniment: The harmonium provides a steady, meditative drone that anchors the group's focus.
- Stillness: We always balance the outward expression of song with periods of silence, allowing the inner joy we’ve awakened to settle into the heart.
If you have been looking for a spiritual family to share these moments with, we invite you to join our next gathering. It is a space to breathe, release the worries of the week, and remember who you really are.
Ananda Sangha
We are a family of fellow travelers, or 'gurubhais', following the path of Kriya Yoga. We aren't gurus, just friends who have found that these teachings and chants make life much brighter and calmer. Come sit with us—our door is always open.
