Behind the Scenes of Our Wedding Designs
The calm of a wedding day is built on days of beautiful chaos. Here is a glimpse of the hands, the late nights, and the genuine joy behind every Altair celebration.
A playful moment behind the scenes at our 'Kesar Sehar' Haldi. My work is deeply inspired by Indian art and culture, and I love finding joy and inspiration in every handcrafted artifact.
About this collection
People usually see the perfect, candlelit reception, but they rarely see the days of intensive fabrication that happen before. When we build a structure like a custom glasshouse or a complex Mehendi setup, my team is on-site managing everything from structural integrity to the placement of every single marigold petal. We do not just decorate; we physically construct the environment so that when you walk in, the space feels like it has always existed exactly as you imagined.
The Anatomy of an Altair Wedding
Designing a wedding is not just about choosing colors or flowers. It is an exercise in engineering and storytelling. Whether we are transforming an empty lawn into a lush courtyard or setting up a Sheesh Mahal in a heritage palace, the process is consistent.
Planning & Conceptualization Before a single prop is moved, we spend weeks in dialogue. I need to know your history, your favorite color palettes, and the memories you want to evoke. We treat every venue as a blank slate, ensuring the design respects the architecture rather than competing with it.
On-Site Fabrication & The 'Hidden' Work This is the part that happens while you are sleeping. We coordinate teams of local artisans, structural engineers, and lighting technicians. Our commitment to using real Indian crafts means we aren't just sourcing generic inventory; we are often hand-painting backdrops or custom-fabricating furniture.
- Structural Work: From erecting domes to securing lighting rigs, we prioritize safety and aesthetics equally.
- Floral Engineering: We don't just place bouquets. We create dense, immersive installations using fresh, seasonal blooms that are conditioned to last through long Indian wedding days.
- Lighting Layers: We balance intelligent beam lighting for the party with the soft, warm glow of thousands of real candles in glass sleeves to create depth.
The Final Transformation Seeing the final result is the magic, but the real pride comes from the way the space feels. It should not look like a magazine shoot that you are walking through; it should look like a home built just for your wedding celebration. By the time the first guest arrives, the chaos of the last three days is wiped clean, leaving only the experience.
Altair by Janki Desai
I am Janki, and for me, decor is about building a story from the ground up, whether that means hand-painting props for your Mehendi or engineering a structure that floats on a lake. I am hands-on, a little obsessed with the small details, and I promise that the chaos behind the scenes will never reach you.
