Folk & Semi-Classical Dance Choreography in Bengaluru
Dance is where I’m most real. In this collection, I’m sharing the folk and semi-classical pieces that feel most like home—from traditional Chari to modern fusion.
Back to my roots with a folk fusion piece I choreographed over a year ago. It was so special to finally film it with my first ever dance partner. This is the style that feels most like home.
A class full of love with my teacher, who first introduced me to folk dance. This 'Suniyan Suniyan' choreography is a tribute to her and the inspiration she gives me.
This 'Kudmayi' choreography is incredibly close to my heart. Inspired by my folk training, it’s a piece filled with emotion, perfect for telling a story of love and union.
The coordination in this semi-classical piece took a few takes, but it was worth it. This rooftop performance shows the precision and grace of this beautiful dance style.
A beautiful sitting choreography to 'Jab Saiyaan'. This piece is all about expression and grace, showing how much emotion can be conveyed even with subtle movements.
A look at my journey to graduating with an Indian Folk Dance Diploma. From my first steps to a full stage performance, this shows my dedication to learning and growing as a dancer.
I'm so proud of this self-taught Navratri piece. It captures the festive and devotional spirit of the festival with energetic spins and graceful movements.
About this collection
If you’re worried about having ‘two left feet,’ let me tell you that folk fusion is less about perfection and more about expression. We spend our first session focusing on the basics of posture and rhythmic footwork—the kind of detail that makes you look graceful and confident, regardless of the choreography's difficulty. It’s not about performing like a pro, it’s about feeling the music in your own way.
My Approach to Folk Fusion
For me, folk and semi-classical dance isn't just about preserving tradition; it's about making it feel alive and relevant today. Whether I'm teaching the Chari dance of Rajasthan or working on a semi-classical fusion for a wedding, the goal is always the same: comfort and confidence.
Why Start Here?
- It's deeply expressive: Unlike some urban styles that focus purely on speed or sharpness, folk dance teaches you how to use your hands (mudras), eyes, and posture to tell a story.
- It’s welcoming: You don't need years of classical training to start. We break down the steps at a pace that works for you, ensuring you aren't just memorizing moves but understanding the rhythm behind them.
- Great for Events: Many of my students come to me for Sangeet or wedding performances because folk fusion blends beautifully with Bollywood tracks. It’s elegant, energetic, and always a crowd-pleaser.
How We Work Together
I conduct classes across Bengaluru in various partner studios, and I also offer 1-on-1 private lessons if you prefer a custom routine without the group setting. We can start from scratch or build upon any experience you might already have. If you're looking for a safe, non-judgmental space to learn, laugh, and perhaps sweat a little, you've found the right place.
