Behind the Scenes with CA Abhijith Preman
Finance is usually seen as all spreadsheets and suits, but there is a real person behind the jargon. Here is a glimpse of how I work and reset, from the desk to the gym.
A professional portrait from my office. While I take my work seriously, I always aim to be approachable and create a welcoming environment for my clients and team.
A candid shot of me at my desk. A lot of my work involves research and preparation to ensure the advice I give is current, relevant, and practical.
A still from the filming of my "Startup Jargon Buster" series. I enjoy creating content that makes complex financial topics easy for anyone to understand.
A quiet moment of focus. As the quote says, "Inspiration does exist, but it must find you working."
A more casual photo. I believe a friendly and open approach is just as important as technical expertise when working with founders.
A happy, candid moment. Bringing a positive and joyful attitude to my work helps in building strong, lasting relationships with clients.
A couple of candid shots. Whether I'm listening intently or sharing a laugh, I believe in being present and genuine in all my interactions.
About Behind the Scenes
You might know me from my 'Startup Jargon Buster' series, but my actual workday is quite grounded. Between deep-diving into complex term sheets at my desk and hitting the gym to clear my head, I focus on keeping financial advice simple and accessible. This space is a look at the reality behind the numbers. There are no suits or stiff boardroom vibes here, just honest work.
As a Chartered Accountant working with startups, I have found that the biggest barrier to growth is usually complexity. Founders often get stuck in financial jargon that feels designed to confuse them rather than help. Whether I am conducting an Intensive Financial Mastery Workshop in Kochi or a virtual session for a team in Dubai, my goal remains the same: to be a partner, not just another consultant.
My workspace is where the 'jargon busting' happens. It is where I break down confusing topics like pre-money valuation, burn rate, and EBITDA into language that actually makes sense when you are building a product or pitching to investors. I believe that finance is just another tool in your toolkit, not a hurdle to jump over.
Why this approach works:
- I keep sessions practical. We talk about real challenges, like handling Angel Tax or building investor data rooms, using actual case studies rather than theory.
- My background is in finance, but my vibe is with the startup ecosystem. I understand the hustle because I am in it every day.
- Whether we are doing a 4-hour deep dive or a quick strategy session, we look at the numbers through the lens of your business goals, not just accounting standards.
Finance can be bhayankara (very) confusing, but it does not have to be. If you are looking for someone to help navigate fundraising, financial governance, or compliance without the headache, let's talk. I am usually at my desk in Ernakulam or on the road for workshops in Bengaluru and Calicut. Let's make the math work for your startup.
