Art as Activism

My art is my protest and my testimony. I create these illustrations to respond to social injustices, political crises, and causes that demand our attention, from defending democracy to standing in solidarity with global movements for freedom.

Illustrations for Social Change

I collaborate with organizations on campaigns, books, and reports that matter. This is where my illustration work serves a direct purpose, bringing visibility to important stories, from child safety and nutrition to the rights of transwomen.

The Thinai Project: A Tamil Epic

This was a special commission to create an immersive art experience based on the 'Thinai' poetic modes from classical Tamil literature. The four paintings on silk, installed in a living space, explore the landscapes and emotions of women through a modern feminist lens, inspired by ancient mural styles.

Fierce & Tender: Feminist Portraits

My portraits celebrate the many facets of being a woman: the rage, the joy, the resilience, and the quiet strength. This series includes physical paintings and digital works exploring sisterhood, heritage, and the complexities of identity.

The Language of Heritage

I often return to my Tamil roots, exploring ancient literature, archaeology, and typography in my work. This is my way of visualizing and connecting with the culture and language that shape me.

Digital Explorations & Prints

My iPad is my go-to canvas for daily expression, allowing me to experiment with styles from messy oils to clean graphic lines. All these pieces are available as high-resolution digital downloads, so you can print and use them in a way that feels right for you.

From My Sketchbook & Studio

This is a look behind the scenes at my process, from quick pencil and ink sketches to my paint-covered hands. It's in the mess and the practice that ideas begin to take form.
