In this video, I introduce myself and share the story behind my brand, UMA, which is named after my beloved grandmother. Aromas are a powerful way to cherish memories, and that is the experience I want to share with you.
About The Making Of: My Handmade Process
I don’t use machines or factory assembly lines. Every candle you see here is hand-poured in small batches, which allows the soy wax to cure properly for a consistent, even scent throw. When you light one of these at home, you are using a product that has been monitored for wick stability and fragrance balance by hand, ensuring that what you smell is exactly the experience I intended to create.
From the Kitchen to Your Home
My candle-making process is slow and intentional. It starts with selecting high-quality, biodegradable soy wax—a choice I made because it burns cleaner and longer than paraffin. Because I don't mass-produce, I can control the fragrance load, keeping it at a steady 7-9% oil concentration. This ensures that the scent is noticeable without being overpowering.
The Anatomy of My Process
- Wick Selection: I use lead-free cotton braided wicks. I size these specifically to the diameter of the jar to prevent tunneling—that annoying issue where wax gets stuck on the sides—and to keep the flame steady.
- Curing Time: After pouring, every candle needs time to rest. This curing phase allows the fragrance oil to fully bind with the wax, which is why your candles perform best after they have arrived from my workshop.
- Natural Traits: You might notice a bit of 'frosting' or white crystalline patterns on the sides of your jar. This isn't a defect; it is a sign that I am using 100% natural soy wax without synthetic hardening agents. It is the real deal.
Quality & Safety
Safety is my priority. My fragrances are phthalate-free, meaning they are safe to burn around family and pets. Whether I am pouring a batch of festive Motichoor Ladoo-shaped candles or simple amber jars, the standard remains the same: handmade, hand-labeled, and packed with care to ensure they reach your doorstep in Delhi NCR or anywhere in India perfectly intact.
