Your Skincare Calendar: When to Schedule Treatments
Good skin does not happen by accident. Whether you are prepping for a wedding or just want to maintain a healthy glow, consistent maintenance is the real secret. Here is our guide to knowing exactly when to book your next session.
Not sure how often you should be getting your favorite treatments? This skincare calendar provides a general guide for scheduling everything from monthly facials and laser hair removal to annual treatments like Thermage and Ultherapy to maintain your glow.
For brides, a timeline is essential. This six month aesthetic plan is a perfect example of how I map out treatments. We start with foundational work like laser hair removal and acne treatments six months out, and move to injectables and skin boosters closer to the D-Day.
A big part of planning is knowing what not to do. I advise brides to avoid starting treatments too late and to be consistent. A well-planned timeline ensures we can address concerns effectively without any last-minute stress.
About Your Skincare Calendar
It is easy to get caught up in the excitement of a new treatment, but timing is everything. While quick maintenance like a laser facial might be safe every two weeks, deeper lifting treatments like Ultherapy or Thermage are strictly annual events. If you are prepping for a big event, start these cycles early rather than trying to squeeze them in at the last minute.
Your skin is a living organ, not a gadget you can just overclock. Consistency is the difference between a radiant, healthy complexion and skin that looks overworked. At our clinics, we see the best results when patients view skincare as a rhythm rather than a series of one-off experiments.
The Maintenance Rhythm
- Monthly (Every 4-6 weeks): This is the sweet spot for cleanups, facials, and laser hair removal. It keeps your skin base clear and your hair growth cycles in check.
- Fortnightly (Every 15 days): Treatments like our InstaBright laser work best with this frequency to gradually tackle pigmentation and evening out skin tone.
- Every 3-4 Months: This is the standard cycle for Botox. It is frequent enough to keep expression lines soft without 'freezing' your face, but spaced out enough to let your skin breathe.
- Annual (Once a year): Heavy-lifting procedures like Ultherapy and Thermage FLX stimulate deep collagen production. Because this is a biological process, doing them more than once a year is generally unnecessary and rarely yields better results.
- Every 12-18 Months: Fillers have a longer lifespan, but how long they last depends on your unique metabolism. We assess your volume restoration needs at each check-up rather than sticking to a rigid date.
The 'Last Minute' Trap
The biggest mistake we see is trying to fix long-term concerns just days before a major event. Skin needs time to regenerate after a treatment, and aggressive interventions too close to a date can lead to redness or sensitivity that you do not want in your photos. If you have a date on the calendar, we recommend starting your aesthetic plan at least 6 months in advance.
