I bring the reality of scientific publishing directly to your campus, moving beyond theory to give your students and faculty actionable skills they can use immediately.

Vanakkam Vellore! This poster is from a session I conducted at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) on manuscript writing and publishing. I love engaging with faculty and students to discuss strategies for efficient writing and integrating it with their experimental work.

A great photo from my session at VIT. It only takes one researcher with great questions to make a talk truly dynamic. I enjoy being challenged by participants as it helps me refine my own understanding and improve future workshops on topics like nanotechnology and physics research writing.

A wonderful day spent at my alma mater, IFGTB, for a faculty development program. I covered topics like journal selection, avoiding predatory journals, the IMRaD format, and using AI tools. It truly felt like a homecoming, sharing knowledge where my own research journey began.

This picture was taken after a faculty development program at Karnavati University where I spoke on the research and innovation perspectives of NEP 2020. I discussed how institutions can adapt to the new policies, from becoming multidisciplinary to fostering a research-intensive environment.

In this video, I'm announcing an upcoming offline workshop at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. I explain the challenges of journal selection in today's complex academic landscape and give a preview of the topics I'll cover, including avoiding predatory journals and using AI writing assistants.

Standing proud at an NSRCEL event at IIM Bangalore. My venture is incubated here, and it's a hub of innovation. In the caption for this post, I broke down three common ways researchers can mess up a manuscript, such as having unclear objectives or an inadequate methodology description.

This poster is for a Winter School on Academic Writing in Mysore where I was a resource person. It's always exciting to join a panel of esteemed scholars for hands-on training with PhD students and early career researchers.

Another poster from the Winter School in Mysore, this one highlighting the hands-on training in academic reading, research, and writing. These events are crucial for building the next generation of confident academic authors.

An announcement for a 10-day online workshop on Manuscript Writing and Publishing. These intensive online sessions are designed for young faculty, PhD scholars, and postdocs who need structured guidance to get their work published.

A screenshot from a virtual Q&A session. Even online, the discussions are lively. Here, we covered key points like how an abstract should be a mini-version of the full manuscript and the difference between a research article and a review article.

About University Workshops & Expert Talks

When I walk into a department, I do not just lecture from a slide deck. We start by deconstructing real, messy manuscripts, tackling common pain points like journal selection and IMRaD structure right there in the room, so your team walks away with tangible improvements to their current work.

Moving Beyond Theoretical Research

Academic writing should not be a chore, yet many researchers find themselves stuck in a loop of rejections and confusing guidelines. My workshops are designed to break that cycle. Whether I am at a university in Bangalore, Coimbatore, or Vellore, the goal remains the same: practical, usable knowledge.

What We Cover in Sessions

I tailor each session to the specific needs of the department, but we typically focus on:

  • Manuscript Mechanics: We demystify the IMRaD format, ensuring your Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections actually tell a cohesive story rather than just listing data.
  • Navigating the Publishing Landscape: I teach researchers how to identify predatory journals versus legitimate, high-impact outlets, saving you time and reputation.
  • AI for Researchers: We explore how to use AI tools responsibly to speed up writing and paraphrasing without losing your unique voice as a scientist.
  • NEP 2020 & Policy: Understanding how the changing landscape of Indian higher education impacts your research trajectory and funding opportunities.

Why Institutions Choose My Workshops

I am not a theorist. I am a researcher and editor who deals with thousands of manuscripts annually. I know where the gaps are, why reviewers reject papers, and how to write a cover letter that actually gets read. When I speak at faculty development programs or student forums, I bring the same tools I use in my private editing practice. You get templates, checklists, and the confidence to hit 'submit' on your next paper.

If you are an institution looking for a session that keeps researchers awake, engaged, and leaves them with more than just a certificate of attendance, let us connect.

I am Sowmiya. I balance my PhD journey with my life as a mom and researcher, so I know exactly where the friction points are in your academic career. I do not believe in dry, textbook lectures; I believe in sharing the messy, real-world stories that make research publishing actually stick.
