At Sangeet Sadhana, music is not taught; it is transmitted. Our Koramangala classrooms and online sessions honor the Guru-Shishya parampara, emphasizing deep listening, disciplined riyaz, and a direct connection between teacher and student.

A look inside our hybrid classroom, where students learn both in-person and online. Our revered gurus guide each shishya, fostering a deep connection and ensuring personalized attention, regardless of their physical location.

The correct way to learn is by surrendering to the music in the old-fashioned way. Here, Guru Smt. Anindita Mukherjee takes her advanced students through the nuances of Raag Paraj, opening up a vista of possibilities beyond the curriculum.

An impromptu performance during a class, demonstrating the essence of the Guru-Shishya parampara. A senior student explores Raag Bhairavi, recreating a Manna De classic, while his guru provides encouragement and guidance.

A glimpse into a class session focused on Raag Desh. This melodic odyssey merges devotion and artistry, as students explore the divine nuances of the raga under the spiritual guidance of their guru.

Students are immersed in the practice of Raag Vrindavani Sarang. This session focuses on honing their skills in this delicate and emotive raga, allowing them to express devotion and longing through its enchanting melodies.

About this collection

In our Koramangala studio, you will not find rows of desks or formal seating. Students sit on floor mats, creating an environment focused on grounding and concentration. This physical arrangement mirrors our philosophy: learning Hindustani classical music requires surrendering distractions and sitting with the music until it becomes a part of your daily rhythm.

Our learning environment is built on the foundation of the Guru-Shishya parampara, a centuries-old tradition where music lessons and life values are intertwined. Whether you join us in our Koramangala studio or connect with us remotely, the expectation remains the same: discipline, dedication, and patience.

The Offline Experience

In Bangalore, our sessions are small, intimate groups of 4-6 students. We keep the class size limited to ensure the guru can provide personalized attention. During these sessions, the instructor uses live harmonium support, and students practice with electronic tanpuras to ensure pitch precision. This is a space for serious riyaz, where students learn to navigate ragas like Yaman, Bageshri, and Malkauns.

The Online Experience

For students joining us from other cities or countries, we have adapted our pedagogy to ensure the rigorous nature of our training remains intact. We coordinate live sessions via video conferencing, adjusted for international time zones. While we cannot provide physical accompaniment, we bridge this gap by distributing digital notations and recorded reference tracks. We focus heavily on Alankars and Sargam to ensure pitch accuracy despite audio latency issues.

Enrollment and Expectations

We view our school as a family, not a commercial enterprise. Because this commitment requires administrative coordination and a structured syllabus, a one-time registration fee is mandatory upon enrollment. This fee is ₹3,000 for residents in India and ₹6,100 for international students. We believe music demands a lifelong pursuit, and we invite students who are ready to dedicate the time required to master the complexities of taal and laya.
