Move beyond technical steps. Learn to tell stories with your face, heart, and soul in our intimate studio workshops.

For me, Bharatanatyam is not just about movement, but about the stories we tell with our face and heart. This is abhinaya, the art of expression, which is at the core of everything I teach and perform. It's a quiet, internal process of living a character on stage.

Abhinaya comes from the soul. It is a language of emotion that flows effortlessly when you are deeply connected to the art. Here, I am exploring the rasa of sringara, or love, in its purest form.

Visualising the classics in my studio. Abhinaya is an internal journey where I connect with the poetry and music, allowing the expressions to emerge naturally. These are the moments of quiet contemplation behind every performance.

Storytelling is the soul of dance. Here, I am sharing the story of Meera with my students during a workshop. Understanding the context and emotion of a character is the secret to true and heartfelt abhinaya, a skill I love to nurture in my disciples.

Abhinaya means "to carry the spectator towards the meaning". In my classes, we practice this art of storytelling through pieces like this bhajan, Shree Ramachandra. Here, my senior disciples are learning to convey devotion through nuanced expressions.

About The Art of Abhinaya: Workshops & In-Studio Training

In our studio, we don't just drill adavus. Abhinaya is an internal process, so our sessions focus on the 'why' behind the movement—how to embody characters like Meera or visualize devotion, not just mimic steps. Whether you are a seasoned dancer or just starting, we will strip back the technique to help you find your own way to express emotion.
