Sustainable Workspace Design
We create office environments that prioritize human performance and environmental stewardship. Using passive design and biophilic elements, we shape spaces that are healthy, bright, and built to evolve.
I am honored that the Infosys Campus in Nagpur received the Editorial Choice award at the Future of Design Summit. This project embodies my vision for design that is sustainable, resilient, and human-centered, where performance and purpose come together.
The facade of the Infosys campus features strategically angled glass fins that reduce solar heat gain and glare. This allows for 90% of workspaces to be naturally daylit, maximizing both energy efficiency and employee comfort.
Inside the Infosys office, the colorful facade fins create a pleasant, diffused light. The design optimizes the floorplate for work areas, with exposed ceilings and efficient layouts that ensure both spatial generosity and clarity in circulation.
The modern office must embody responsibility to the planet and its people. In the Infosys campus, I used features like this sculptural wooden column to create breakout spaces that are both functional and biophilic, promoting well-being.
A core part of my philosophy is designing offices that work for people. This cafeteria space at the Infosys campus features floor-to-ceiling windows that connect employees to the lush green landscape outside, providing a refreshing break from the workday.
A meeting room at the Infosys campus benefits from the high-performance facade. The colored fins control glare and heat, creating a comfortable environment for collaboration while maintaining a visual connection to the outdoors.
At the Zydus Headquarters, I prioritized indoor air quality by using non-toxic finishes and low-emission materials. The design incorporates an internal courtyard, bringing fresh air and greenery into the heart of the workspace.
The Grant Thornton office in New Delhi features flexible, reconfigurable spaces. This high table serves as a collaborative hub, surrounded by planters that improve air quality and add a natural, calming element to the work environment.
A flowing wooden ceiling element guides circulation through the Grant Thornton office. The design balances rugged industrial materials with sleek finishes, creating a dynamic and modern workplace that supports different modes of work.
Mobile workstations and flexible partitions at the Grant Thornton office reflect the dynamic needs of a modern workforce. The design allows for easy reconfiguration, accommodating both focused individual work and collaborative team activities.
About Sustainable Workspace Design
It isn't just about aesthetics; it is about performance. In our work for the Infosys campus in Nagpur, we implemented custom-angled glass fins on the facade. These reduce heat gain by optimizing solar shading while ensuring 90 percent of the workspaces are naturally daylit. This approach drastically lowers the cooling load and creates a more comfortable environment for occupants without relying solely on mechanical systems.
Our Approach to Workspace Architecture
We design with the belief that a workspace should actively contribute to the well-being and productivity of the people who inhabit it. Our process moves beyond standard floor plates, focusing instead on bioclimatic performance and spatial intelligence.
Passive Design & Climate Responsiveness We integrate passive design strategies such as light shelves, window-to-wall ratio optimization, and shading devices—similar to the facade treatment we designed for Sumadhura Capitol Towers. These interventions manage glare and thermal gain naturally, ensuring the building works with the local climate rather than against it.
Biophilic Integration & Indoor Air Quality We incorporate biophilic elements not just for visual appeal, but to improve air quality and mental well-being. By integrating internal courtyards and structured greenery, we create zones that offer a respite from the intensity of the workday. We prioritize non-toxic finishes and low-emission materials, as seen in our work with Zydus Headquarters, to ensure a healthy indoor environment.
Flexibility & The Modern Workforce Modern offices must be dynamic. We design spaces that accommodate various modes of work—from quiet, focused tasks to energetic collaboration. In the Grant Thornton office in New Delhi, we utilized flexible, reconfigurable workstations and acoustic glass partitions to allow the space to evolve alongside the business.
