Real-World Dog Training for Everyday Life in Mumbai
Your dog doesn't live in a vacuum, so why train them like they do? I focus on practical skills—from quiet car rides to handling busy markets—to help you and your dog navigate Mumbai life with confidence.
A jumping dog can be a nuisance or even a danger, especially with large breeds. I demonstrate several effective and humane techniques to discourage jumping and teach polite greetings.
Monsoons in Mumbai mean umbrellas, which can be scary for many dogs. This video shows how I use desensitization and positive association to get a young German Shepherd comfortable with this common object.
As a trainer, my car sees a lot of dogs, mud, and hair. A good car seat cover is a lifesaver for keeping my car clean and ensuring dogs can travel safely and comfortably.
Prepping for a road trip from Mumbai to Kashmir with our dog Pantu. We removed the back seats to fit her bed, ensuring she has a comfortable and safe space for the long journey.
Packing for a dog on a long road trip requires a lot of gear. Here is a look inside Pantu's dedicated suitcase, filled with everything from supplements and first aid to jackets and travel bowls.
We even managed a train journey to Delhi with our girl. Proper training and preparation make it possible to include your dog in all kinds of travel adventures.
Our monthly pack walks are a key part of real world training. They provide a structured opportunity for graduate dogs to practice their leash manners and social skills in a group setting.
Taking a trained dog, like this American Bully, through a busy local market is a true test of their focus and obedience. This is what real world success looks like.
About Real-World Ready: Training for Everyday Life
Training isn't just about teaching 'sit.' It's about actual desensitization. Whether it's the scary monsoon umbrella that makes your dog bolt or the chaos of a busy market, my training focuses on these specific triggers. I teach your dog to remain calm when the world around them is anything but, using actual Mumbai streets and real-life scenarios for our practice sessions.
Beyond the Basics: Training for Life
Most training programs focus on obedience inside a quiet room. That isn't enough for a city like Mumbai. My 'Real-World Ready' approach is designed for the distractions, noises, and unpredictability of your daily life.
Why Real-World Matters
- Desensitization to City Life: I don't just use clickers and treats. We work on your dog's reaction to everyday stressors—monsoon umbrellas, honking traffic, metal grates, and large crowds. If your dog is petrified of an umbrella or reactive to a passing bus, we tackle those issues specifically.
- Travel and Car Comfort: Many of my clients struggle with car sickness or anxiety during travel. I teach dogs how to be calm passengers, ensuring your trips to the vet or beach are stress-free for both of you.
- Focus in Public: We take our training outside the facility. Practicing leash manners and impulse control in busy markets is the true test of your dog's focus. This is where we see real progress in behavior modification.
My Training Philosophy
I believe that a well-behaved dog is a confident dog. When I work with a dog, I look at their personality first—no cookie-cutter programs. Whether it's a puppy learning bite inhibition or an adult dog needing a behavioral reset, we work on clear communication.
Once the foundational work is done, I shift the focus to you. I show you how to handle your dog in the real world, ensuring that the training holds up even when I'm not around. Because at the end of the day, you are the one living with your dog, and you need to know how to maintain that harmony.
Mitali Salvi
I'm Mitali, and for me, training is deeply personal—it’s how I built my own life with Pantu and Chaddi. I don't use cookie-cutter methods; I look at your dog’s unique personality, whether they're a shy pup or a handful, and we work together to find their rhythm.
