About Photo Ideas & Tips
The single most important factor for a successful shoot isn't the outfit or the prop backdrop—it's your baby's internal clock. I always recommend scheduling your session for immediately after their morning nap, when they are fed and happy, rather than trying to force them into a rigid studio timeline. If you aren't sure about the right time for your little one, we can figure out the best slot together before you book.
Creating Your Own Magic
Photography is about the memory, not just the pose. When you are looking for photo ideas at home, keep it simple. You don't need elaborate setups to capture a beautiful moment. Think about the details: a close-up of those tiny fingers holding yours, or a candid shot of a sibling's first meeting with the newborn. These 'faceless' reveal styles are popular for a reason—they are timeless and preserve privacy while telling a sweet story.
The 'Baby-Led' Reality
People often ask me how I manage to get a smile out of a fussy toddler or a sleeping newborn. The truth is, I don't force it. My entire process is baby-led. If they need a break, we take one. If they want to play, we shoot. The chaos, the giggles, and even the mid-shoot feed are all part of your story. My studio setup at Cuffe Parade is designed with this in mind, with temperature control and safety assistants who know exactly how to handle tiny humans.
Preparing for Your Shoot
Whether you are coming to my studio or we are meeting at your home, preparation makes a huge difference.
- Wardrobe: Stick to neutral, soft colors that won't distract from the faces.
- Energy: Babies pick up on your stress. If you are relaxed, they will be too. Have your favorite music or a familiar toy handy.
- Comfort: Bring extra diapers, snacks, and a change of clothes for everyone—including yourself, just in case of a surprise spill.
I’ve spent 10 years photographing over 1800 babies in Mumbai, from breezy outdoor locations to my cozy studio. The goal isn't a perfect, staged magazine shot; it's a memory that feels exactly like your life.
