About this collection
Most people waste money by doubling up on products that do the same thing. For example, if you're using a rich moisturizer and a heavy primer, you're likely clogging your pores without needing to. I prefer condensing steps—using a multi-purpose face base that hydrates and preps—to keep your skin feeling like skin, not a cakey layer. It's about working with your features, not hiding them.
Building a kit that actually works for you doesn't require a mountain of expensive products. It requires knowing what your skin needs and how to use your tools properly.
My Rules for a Smarter Kit
- Skin Prep is 70% of the Look: A good base makes all the difference. I lean on products like Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream for dry areas or the Bobbi Brown Face Base to combine hydration and priming in one step. If you're struggling with makeup pilling, it's often a sign your skincare isn't absorbing. Give it time to sink in before you reach for the foundation. 🎀
- Tools Matter: If you are using one brush for everything, stop. A dedicated smudging brush for eyes or a clean sponge for foundation gives you a level of precision you cannot get with your fingers. I teach all my students how to clean these properly. If you aren't disinfecting your brushes, you are just painting bacteria back onto your face every day.
- Fixing vs. Setting: Do you know the difference? A setting spray is a fine mist used to melt powders into the skin for a natural glow, while a makeup fixer (often alcohol-based) is designed to lock everything in place for long hours. Don't mix them up if you want to avoid that 'powdery' look. ⭐️
What I Actually Use
I am constantly testing products for my commercial shoots and bridal clients. If it is in my kit, it has passed the 'sensitive skin' test. Whether it is a Pixi hydrating mist for a quick refresh or a high-performance setting spray that withstands Mumbai's humidity, I only recommend what I trust on my own face.
