My Approach to Dance: Technique and Passion
Dance is my discipline, my daily ritual, and my constant teacher. This collection is a look into my practice sessions, the techniques I use to stay flexible, and the raw joy of movement that I bring to every choreography I create for you.
It all starts with the fundamentals. This video shows a simple but crucial jazz footwork exercise, because going back to basics is key to being a good dancer and teacher.
A time-lapse of my stretching routine. Flexibility is so important for a dancer, and I make sure to incorporate safe and effective stretches into my practice.
Working on my middle splits. Progress is a slow and steady process, and I believe in celebrating every small achievement on the journey to your goals.
Who says you can't practice your splits on the metro? A dancer finds space to stretch anywhere. It's all about having fun with your passion.
A shot of a backbend, a move that requires both strength and flexibility. I am always working on improving my technique.
Using the metro ride to get a good leg stretch in. For a dancer, any place can become a studio for a few moments.
An improvised dance on a rooftop at sunset. Moments like these, where I can just move freely, are a huge source of inspiration for my choreography.
A clip from a jazz funk class I took. I believe in being a lifelong learner and constantly taking classes to keep my skills sharp and my choreography fresh.
A throwback to a fun urban dance workshop. Exploring different styles like funk and urban helps me add unique elements to my Bollywood choreography.
A dream come true moment meeting and learning from my idol, Meher Malik. Learning from the best is incredibly inspiring and pushes me to be a better choreographer.
About The Art of Dance: My Process & Passion
When I choreograph for a wedding, I don't just teach you steps, I focus on your natural movement patterns. In my 12 to 15-session packages, we spend the first few days simply syncing your steps to the beat rather than trying to look 'perfect.' By the time we reach the choreography, the music feels like a conversation rather than a performance you have to memorize.
Building Your Routine
My process for wedding choreography is rooted in the same discipline you see in my personal practice sessions. Whether you are a bride, a groom, or part of a large family squad, I start by assessing your comfort level.
- The Basics: We begin with weight-shifting and rhythm exercises. If you think you have two left feet, we spend time making the basic steps feel natural before adding complexity.
- Personalization: Your sangeet performance should tell your story. I use a mix of Bollywood, Punjabi, and Jazz-funk elements to create routines that match the specific energy of your family.
- Sessions & Support: For my family sangeet packages, I typically conduct 12 to 15 one-hour home sessions across Delhi, Noida, and Gurgaon. I also provide step-by-step video tutorials for out-of-town relatives so no one gets left behind.
Why Technique Matters
People often ask why I spend so much time on stretching and form. Dance is a full-body engagement. When you understand how to hold your posture or use your core, your performance looks effortless and confident on stage. This is why I always go back to basics, whether I am working on a complex group formation or a simple, joyful couple dance.
Let's Get Started
I am not about creating rigid, polished machines. I am about helping you feel the rhythm and have fun with your people. If you are looking for choreography that feels real and accessible, I would love to hear about the songs and vibes you have in mind.
