Putter Fitting: Data-Driven Solutions for Your Stroke
The putter is the most used club in your bag, yet it is almost never properly fitted. I use Capto and TrackMan to analyze your stroke patterns under pressure, ensuring your putter head and neck design actually match your natural release.
It's a fact that the putter is the most used and least fitted club. A customized putter that matches your natural stroke is one of the fastest ways to lower your score.
How you perform a pressure putt tells me everything I need to know. I analyze your muscle activation and stroking pattern to select the right putter neck and balance for you, which is the key to consistency on the greens.
About Putter Fitting: The Science of the Stroke
I don't guess based on how you think you putt; I look at your muscle activation. We will run you through five pressure putts of varying lengths to map your stroking pattern. From there, I determine the exact balance—face-balanced or toe-hang—that keeps your putter face square at impact, not just at address.
Why Off-the-Shelf Putters Fail
Most golfers buy a putter because they like the look, but the head shape and neck design are often fighting their natural stroke. If you have a slight arc in your putting motion, a face-balanced putter is working against you. If you have a straight-back, straight-through stroke, a toe-hang putter will make you push or pull your putts. You cannot build consistency on a foundation that doesn't fit your mechanics.
The Science of the Stroke: Capto & TrackMan
I use Capto analysis to digitize your stroke. We track face angle, path, and tempo. By analyzing your performance during pressure putts, I can see exactly where your hands fire and how your putter behaves at the point of contact. This data tells us if you need more loft, a different lie angle, or a completely different balance type to gain that 30% improvement in accuracy.
Customizing Your Setup
My fitting process is about alignment between your physical tendency and your gear:
- Face-Balanced Putters: Ideal for players with a minimal arc. The center of gravity is positioned directly below the axis of the shaft.
- Toe-Hang Putters: Designed for players with a strong arc. These help rotate the face to square at impact.
We adjust the loft and lie on your current gamer, or if we are building a new one, we select the head and neck combination that matches your stroke path. Stop guessing on the greens and start trusting the data.
