Behind the Art: My Personal Portraits and Moments
Art is my life, and dance is how I breathe. These are the snapshots, quiet reflections, and portraits that capture my journey as a performance artist beyond the stage.
A black and white portrait from a remote photography session. A reminder to say no to mediocrity and love yourself.
A moment of reflection paired with a beautiful quote from Kahlil Gibran about life and love. Poetry and philosophy are constant sources of inspiration for my movement.
Dance like there's no tomorrow! A candid shot of me, filled with intoxicated love-energy. This is my wish for the world: to dance unabashedly for your soul.
A mood. Celebrating freedom from quarantine with a little dance in my room in Japan. These are the travelogues of a dancer.
A sneaky peek from our first music and dance video cover. This shows the more stylized and conceptual side of my work.
Part two of a quiet moment in Ueno, Japan. A reminder to just move and let go of anxiety, and to have faith that new opportunities will come.
"Look, and thy shall find." A playful moment with a mirror, dressed as a Flamenca.
A flyer for an Instagram Live conversation I had about my journey as an international dancer, actor, and lifestyle coach. I enjoy sharing my story and inspiring others.
A fun remote photography session playing with red and blue lights. This was my way of celebrating Women's Day, exploring different personas through light and color.
"Shhh." Another portrait from a creative black and white session, playing with expression and character.
About Behind the Art: Portraits & Moments
These portraits are a part of my movement journal, capturing the silence between the beats. Many people only see the final performance, but these images show the experimentation, the solitude, and the light I play with before stepping into a studio to teach. This is where I practice the vulnerability that I hope my students bring to our own dance sessions together.
Photography is my way of understanding the geometry of my body when there is no audience. When I work with remote photographers, it is less about posing and more about exploring how I move through space, shadows, and color. These moments fuel my Butoh practice and help me break down the rigid structures of classical dance.
Whether I am celebrating a birthday in Mumbai with a tango partner or finding peace in a quiet corner in Japan, every frame is an attempt to stay connected to my core. This artistic practice informs how I teach. In my movement workshops, I do not just want you to copy steps. I want to help you find the rhythm that lives inside your own cells.
If you have been feeling stuck or are looking for a way to express yourself, my classes in Kathak, Butoh, or contemporary fusion might be the space you need. I keep my groups small so we can truly connect, and I offer private sessions if you need a safe environment to explore your own movement language. Reach out if you are ready to start your own journal.
