Restoring the crown requires a precise approach to match your natural hair growth pattern. See how we achieve dense, seamless coverage for vertex thinning at my Borivali clinic.

This is a classic case of advanced crown balding. The 'after' photo shows how we achieved complete coverage using a high number of grafts, resulting in a full and dense appearance.

Another example of significant crown restoration. Notice how the new hair provides full coverage over the previously bald scalp, blending seamlessly with the surrounding hair.

This patient had noticeable thinning across the crown. My approach was to strategically place grafts to build density and create the illusion of much thicker hair, which you can see in the result.

A similar case of diffuse thinning on the crown. The 'after' image demonstrates a significant increase in density and coverage after the hair transplant procedure.

This top-down view clearly shows the transformation from a thinning crown to a full head of hair. This angle is critical for assessing the success of a crown-focused hair transplant.

Here, we addressed both hairline recession and crown thinning. This image focuses on the successful restoration of the crown area, which now has excellent coverage.

This patient's crown area now has a natural-looking whorl and excellent density, completely covering the area of previous hair loss.

A great top-down comparison showing the successful filling of the vertex area. The patient can now style his hair without worrying about the bald spot showing.

This back-of-the-head view shows a successful restoration of the crown. The hair growth is uniform and dense.

Another successful crown coverage result. The natural pattern of hair growth has been restored, making the transplant completely unnoticeable.

About Crown Area Coverage

The crown area is technically the most demanding part of the scalp because of its complex, circular whorl pattern. If the grafts are not placed at the exact rotational angle, the result looks patchy rather than full. At my Borivali clinic, I personally map this whorl and use the DHI technique to ensure each graft follows your natural growth direction for seamless blending.

Crown thinning, or vertex balding, requires a completely different strategy than frontal hairline work. While a hairline defines your face, the crown defines your overall scalp density. My focus is on coverage efficiency. Because the crown is a large surface area, we often need a higher number of grafts to create the illusion of fullness.

In many cases, I use a high-density FUE approach, sometimes incorporating beard or chest grafts if your scalp donor supply is limited. This is standard procedure for Grade 5 or 6 patterns where the balding area has expanded significantly. I prioritize blending the transplanted hair with your existing growth to ensure that even if you keep your hair relatively short, the transition is undetectable.

A key part of the process is the donor management conversation. During your evaluation at my Mumbai clinic, I assess your safe donor zone to ensure we are not over-harvesting. We aim for a natural, long-lasting look. You can expect a gradual transformation, with significant coverage becoming visible 6 to 9 months after the procedure.
