Optimal results from laser hair removal depend on specific skin preparation and consistent post-treatment care. Follow these clinical guidelines to ensure safety and efficacy.

Post-treatment care is crucial for optimal results. This guide outlines normal reactions like mild redness and key instructions, such as avoiding sun exposure and applying SPF sunscreen daily to protect the treated skin.

This is a guide to essential aftercare following a laser hair removal session. It is normal to experience mild redness, and it is important to avoid picking the skin and protect it from UV light for 14 days post-treatment.

About this collection

Crucially, stop all waxing, threading, and plucking for at least four weeks before your session. The Alma Soprano Titanium laser targets the hair follicle, which must be intact for the energy to be effective. If you remove the hair root, the laser cannot transmit the necessary energy, significantly reducing the treatment's ability to achieve long-term reduction.

Pre-Treatment Preparation

Preparation is the first step in clinical safety. Please cease all forms of mechanical hair removal (waxing, epilating, threading) four weeks prior to your appointment. This allows your hair to enter the correct growth phase (anagen) for the laser to detect.

On the night before your session, please perform a clean shave of the target area using a fresh, single-use razor. Avoid applying lotions, deodorants, or creams to the treatment zone on the day of your appointment to prevent any interaction with the laser's thermal energy.

Understanding Your Session

During your time at my Marathahalli clinic, we assess your skin type using the Fitzpatrick scale to determine the correct laser fluence. If you have a history of hormonal conditions like PCOS or thyroid issues, please inform me, as this influences hair growth patterns and requires a more nuanced approach to treatment mapping.

Post-Treatment Care

After your session, mild erythema (redness) and perifollicular edema (swelling around the follicle) are normal physiological responses. These typically subside within 24 to 48 hours. During this phase:

  • Avoid Thermal Stress: Refrain from hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense cardiovascular exercise for 48 hours to avoid trapping heat in the skin.
  • Sun Protection: This is non-negotiable. You must apply a broad-spectrum, matte-finish SPF 50+ sunscreen to any exposed treated area daily. UV exposure on recovering skin can lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Gentle Handling: Do not scrub or exfoliate the treated area for at least one week. If you experience irritation, use only the non-comedogenic, anti-inflammatory cream prescribed during your visit.

Following these protocols ensures your skin remains resilient and the results remain consistent.
