Busting Makeup Myths: Professional Techniques That Actually Work
The makeup industry is full of noise, trends, and shortcuts that don't help your craft. I cut through the 'dramein' to teach you the science behind flawless base application and skin theory. No fluff, just honest, professional training.
Is waterproof and smudge-proof makeup a reality or a myth? I teach you the techniques to make it a reality. We even tested it by putting a model in a pool, and the makeup did not budge.
People say "Bhumika Bahl bahut badtameez hai." The truth is, I am direct and I don't believe in shortcuts. My academy is a place of love and pure technique.
I sarcastically tell my students to "waste" their money on this palette because it's actually a smart investment. The shades work on every skin tone, from fair to dark, saving you money in the long run.
What to do when a client doesn't understand your artistic vision? I teach my students to listen to the client. Sometimes, you have to quiet your inner artist and just do the work they ask for.
When you are doing a bride's makeup, no one else is allowed in the room. I teach my students to be firm about this rule to avoid unwanted opinions and distractions.
Many artists make the mistake of directly applying a light shade to make someone look "gora." I teach the correct, buildable technique: start with a dark shade to match, then lighten.
I don't sell products in my academy. When I recommend something, it's because I genuinely use and believe in it, not because I get paid for it. My academy is a sacred temple, not a shop.
I give my students the right exposure to identify fake vs. original products. Here, I show them how to spot a counterfeit by looking at the font and packaging details.
Pink and purple loose powders are a new "drama" in the market. I explain how to use them to balance undertones: pink powder for a yellow face, and yellow powder for a pink face.
More market "dramein." I explain that while pink and purple powders can be fun to pamper yourself with, they are not required for professional use. Translucent and banana powders are the essentials.
About Real Talk: Busting Industry Myths
Market mein bahut 'dramein' hai, but I don't believe in them. Most people obsess over finding the 'perfect' palette, but I teach you how to analyze skin undertones and identify genuine products first. Whether it is spotting a fake Huda Beauty palette or mastering powder color correction for stubborn dark circles, my focus is on the science, not the viral trends.
Why I Call Out the 'Dramein'
Professional makeup is about art and science, not following every new trend that hits social media. When I teach my students at the academy, we strip away the misinformation.
Common Myths We Bust:
- The 'Gora' Fix: Many artists try to make a client look fair by just applying a lighter foundation. This is a mistake. I teach the buildable technique: you start with a dark shade to match, then work your way up to ensure no oxidation and a natural finish.
- The Powder Trap: You see pink and purple loose powders everywhere now. Are they fun? Yes. Are they required for professional work? No. I show you that translucent and banana powders are your essentials. I even teach you how to use powders as color correctors for extreme cases, instead of caking on layers of product that move.
- Fake vs. Real: I don't just tell you to buy high-end; I teach you how to identify the real deal. From checking the font on a Laura Mercier powder to identifying the pan depth in a fake palette, you learn to protect your kit and your reputation.
Setting Boundaries
Technique is 50% of the job; the other 50% is managing your workspace. I teach my 'bachhas' (students) to be firm. If you are doing a bride’s makeup, you must enforce a 'no-entry' policy in the room. Unwanted opinions from the bride's relatives ruin the focus and the outcome. If you want to build a career, you have to be the boss of your space.
