Live Temple Paintings and Spiritual Art
I travel to sacred spaces to paint live, capturing the divine energy of the location on canvas. For me, this is a form of meditation, a silent prayer.
The final artwork from my live painting session at Ban Ganga, Somnath. This piece is more than a painting; it's a memory of a sacred moment, created with full devotion right there by the sea.
From a blank canvas to a finished piece, this is the journey of my live painting at Ban Ganga, Somnath. You can see how I build the layers, starting with the sky and sea, and finishing with the sacred Shivling.
The sacred Ban Ganga Shivling at Somnath, partially submerged in the sea. This was the divine inspiration for my live painting, a truly powerful and spiritual sight that I felt compelled to capture.
About Sacred Spaces: Live Temple Paintings
When I paint at a temple, I do not just capture the architecture. I sit with the space, soaking in the energy until it feels like a prayer. Whether it is a quiet corner of a local shrine or a pilgrimage site like Somnath, I work on-site to bring that specific divine peace onto the canvas for you.
My Approach to Sacred Spaces
Painting on-site is ek alag hi anubhav (a totally different experience). It is not about perfect lines or academic techniques. It is about understanding the rooh (soul) of the place. When I am at a temple or a ghat, I spend the first hour just observing the light, the movement of people, and the silence. Only then do I start to paint.
The Technical Details
I use high-quality acrylics on stretched cotton canvas or heavy-weight artist paper, depending on what we decide. For larger works, I bring a portable tripod easel and ensure my setup is silent and non-intrusive.
- Live Canvas Sessions: These take 5 to 6 hours and result in an 18x24 or 20x30 inch acrylic painting.
- Live Sketching: If you prefer something faster, I offer 4-hour sessions using charcoal, soft pastels, or watercolors.
Traveling to Your Location
I am based in Delhi NCR but I travel across India for spiritual art commissions. Whether it is a family temple in a remote village or a major landmark, if the place calls to you, I will make the journey. My process includes keeping things respectful and clean, using drop cloths to protect the venue flooring.
You get the finished painting right then and there. It is not just an image. It is a memory of that sacred moment, captured while the incense was burning and the bells were ringing.
