About Kitchens & Dining Areas
I focus on ensuring the flow between your kitchen and dining area feels seamless, often using high-grade BWP plywood for cabinetry to handle humidity and long-term wear. By integrating features like courtyard-facing windows or indoor planters, I bring natural light and airflow into these zones, turning a utility area into the social heart of your home.
Materiality and Durability
My kitchen and dining designs rely on honest materials that age well. For cabinetry, I use BWP (Boiling Water Proof) marine-grade plywood to ensure structural integrity in our climate. For shutters, I prefer matte PU or anti-scratch acrylic finishes, which provide a clean look that stands up to the daily rigors of a working kitchen. Countertops are typically finished in quartz for ease of maintenance and a durable, non-porous surface.
The Layout Philosophy
I believe the kitchen and dining room should be connected. My layouts prioritize:
- Efficiency: Using Gola profile (handleless) systems to maintain a sleek visual line and prevent dirt buildup.
- Connectivity: Positioning dining tables close to natural light sources or indoor greenery to soften the boundary between the cooking area and the rest of the house.
- Lighting: I use a mix of magnetic track lighting for flexibility and statement pendant lights to define the dining zone, ensuring the mood shifts effortlessly from functional daytime cooking to evening entertaining.
Seeing Before Building
If you are unsure how these elements will fit into your floor plan, I offer 3D visualization services. We can model your specific space in 3ds Max and Corona to test different stone finishes, lighting placements, and furniture layouts before a single carpenter starts on-site. This eliminates guesswork and ensures the final space functions exactly as you need it to.
