Behind the Scenes: My Professional Photography Process

Step inside my studio to see how I build commercial imagery from the ground up. Great visuals require more than just a camera; they need precise lighting, intentional styling, and a collaborative workflow.

Getting ready for a long day of shooting involves creating the perfect setup step-by-step. This time-lapse shows how I build the scene, from placing backgrounds to adjusting professional studio lights for the perfect shot.

This is how a professional shoot is done. You can see my studio lighting, the props and background on the table, and the final image appearing on my laptop. This is the magic of tethered shooting, where we perfect the shot together.

About this collection

When we work together in the studio, I use a tethered workflow that connects my camera directly to a laptop. This isn't just for me; it lets you see the composition, focus, and lighting in high resolution live as we shoot. We can tweak the props or adjust the strobe intensity together, ensuring the final image aligns perfectly with your brand goals before the session even ends.

Professional photography is often treated as a black box, but I prefer to make the process transparent so you know exactly what you are paying for. My studio setup in Sector 47 is designed for precision and efficiency. I utilize a full-frame Nikon D780 setup, which allows for the high-resolution detail required for commercial print and digital advertising.

The Anatomy of a Shot

Every image starts with a concept. Before we click a single button, we discuss the mood. Do you need something 'dark and moody' for a gourmet beverage, or a 'bright and airy' look for a food product? I maintain a library of premium surfaces, including authentic wood, stone, and marble, to create depth that feels real, not digitally generated.

Technical Precision

Reflection management is the biggest challenge when shooting products like glass, metal, or glossy plastics. My lighting rig includes multiple strobes, softboxes, and bounce reflectors, which I position specifically to control highlights and eliminate unwanted glare. If we are capturing movement, such as a splash or steam, I use high-speed sync techniques to freeze the action perfectly.

Why Tethering Matters

I emphasize tethered shooting because it removes the guesswork. When you are on set, you are part of the creative process. You see the product live on the screen, allowing us to make micro-adjustments to the styling or lighting in real-time. This saves time during post-production and ensures you get exactly the shot you need without the need for endless re-shoots.

I am Abhay, and for me, photography is where art meets precision. I love the technical side of the craft just as much as the creative, whether that means finding the perfect light for a beverage or styling a product shoot to catch a customer's eye.
